Many centuries ago, Draikois belonged to the Dragons. The Dragons were horrifically powerful creatures. They were intelligent, possessed inborn magic, and were functionally immortal. They built great cities which spanned the lands, skies, and seas. They bent lesser races to their wills, enslaving and exterminating as they went. Worst of all, they loved conflict among each other, and fought long and violent wars that ravaged the continent.
When the Men arrived in Draikois, they were right to be scared. But Men are cunning creatures, and thrive most when faced with a challenge. Dragon magic fascinated them, and it did not take long for Men to learn its rules and limitations. In the end, they were able to steal the dragons’ magic, and turned it on the dragons themselves.
The defeated dragons, stripped of their magic, scattered to the lands, skies, and seas, and became the draconic races we know today.
Drakes are landfaring creatures, suited for stalking among forests, plains and mountains. Their sturdy legs give them the ability to walk for long periods of time without rest.
Wyverns lost their forelegs, leaving them with only wings and talons. They live most of their lives on the wing. Their horns have become antennae that allow them to feel currents in the air.
Typhons are completely seabound, having traded all their limbs for fins. Due to a lack of gravity underwater, the oldest of them can become unspeakably massive.
