Niya is a being known as a 'megrim': a lesser and more specific aspect of another being called an 'inner demon' representing the mind's deepest fears, anxieties, prejudices, and woes. Particularly, Niya came from the fear of judgment, and she represents the feeling of guilt, 'pressure', the need to spill what you've done when you're being questioned on it regardless of your motives or if you've even done anything or not. For uncountable years, she acted as the prosecutor to Her Honor, her inner demon progenitor, whenever people were put on trial, forcing them to come clean about the unsavory things that they've done and wrongful acts they've committed to face a guilty verdict and the ensuing punishment. When the trial was over, she was returned to Her Honor, and when a new trial came, she would be reformed with no memory of the previous trial.

This continued until she was asked to act as the prosecutor for a trial for one Kakia, a subordinate of the Va'ad Hara that Her Honor now worked for accused of attempted assassination. Before the trial, Kakia smiled and told her good luck, hoping to be found guilty after all, but as that was the first positive emotion she'd ever been shown in her life, she flipped and began to defend her, ultimately proving her innocence. She managed to appeal to Her Honor's long-buried sense of empathy to prevent being discorporated again, but was disbarred and denied the right to ever practice law again. Ever since, she has been the Vice-Chancellor of the mercenary guild Domdaniel, with Kakia (or "Hedy", as she prefers) acting as the de facto Chancellor and her lover. She now even is the second mother to their adoptive space clown son, Tutti-Frutti.

Being that she's still learning the ropes of the whole "being alive" thing, she is somewhat naive in how many things operate and tends to get very hung up on 'following the rules' whenever rules and/or regulations are listed, but her unsettling nature and paper-flat appearance (allowing her to project onto walls, fold herself up, or disappear into the shadow she emerges from on the floor) is nothing when compared to how she can make anyone tell the truth simply by pressuring them. If they have a sentient mind at all, they will crack sooner or later, no ifs ands or buts about it. When she's around Hedy, she becomes a stammering lovesick mess, and to Tutti-Frutti, she tends to be the 'strict no-fun parent', if only because Hedy typically lets him do whatever he wants.
