"Neither of us were sure what to do. How can you be, really. Cel', well, Saff at the time, had only just turned 17, I was still 16-- no teenagers should have to do something like that! We left the weapon on a rooftop and started running. It felt like the only sensible thing at the time.
North, I think. It would line up for us to have gone north from Hiojentam, as, in the coming days, we found ourselves trekking through this-- gods, it would've had to have been a few hundred kilometres across... it was this massive expanse of grass meadows, speckled with poppies, red and white. At the time, Cel and I hadn't known the place; Ieramptan schooling ignores most geographic features, but hindsight allows me the knowledge that this was the 'Mourner's Meadow'.
Apparently, one of Moncra's clerics back in the Age of Lanyr (which is fascinating, I was unaware that arcana was harnessed prior to the AoF) was so unbelievably debilitated by the loss of a mate/spouse that they couldn't perform their duties. So, Moncra enlisted the help of Lanyr to form that meadow. The meadow apparently consumes any attempt of development, but provides a safe, timeless area for the heartbroken to mourn. I suppose that explains why the UPB hadn't expanded north. Not sure they needed to make it that large, though."
