The symbolism on the jacket clip and collar is the red moon during lunar eclipse.
This was chosen as a concept because Mercia burn bright and warm like the sun.
However, this light is often taken for granted while there is light and warmth.
Her light shine the brightest in the dark and she will provided warmth and comfort to those that need.
A light that shine in the darkness. Being beacon and providing guidance to those that are lost in the dark.

However, this light isn't going to be there forever, the moon have many phases and will eventually waned.
A cycle, always changing. Lunar eclipse is use to symbolized the changing nature.
Change might be seen as unstable but it isn't all bad.
The fading of the light during some phases is because her light doesn't shine too bright over other in the dark.
She is there to guide and to help other find their own path. A fire or light that help to lit up other light.
Not just a change in herself and a change in others she have interact with.
To help other learn to become a light in turn like the waning moon giving way for other light to shine.
So they too can help lead the way for other in dark just as she did for them.
