Oh yeah, got my traditional groove on and finally finished this puppy today. I found a really cool old frame and it worked well with the butterfly and the background. Of course this is a digital frame here, but it gives you the idea of what the actual piece looks like.
Yes, it's a horrible, grainy picture but the gist of it comes through. Way too big for my scanner of course.
Again this is my cel painting (using actual animator's paints) on acetate with an acrylic background. I was going to paint flowers...but I really can't paint flowers. X)
This one is going to be hung up at work and will probably be for sale at the local artist's gallery soon. It can be yours! ;)

There's my gator bud! Yeah, I have been slacking majorly in traditional work. But I've got another one planned quite soon that I think will really knock off some socks. I hope so anyway. Of course I still have birds to paint and more ink work to do. There never seems to be an end...but that's ok.
Much thanks for your kind words as always, gatorness.

Much thanks for saying that! Yeah the butterfly is the focal point and the background (colors and all) are designed to kinda lay back and let the big, bad butterfly rule. Though I put a lot of work into that background and learned much from it too. Your observations are greatly appreciated. :)
*blushes* You are spoiling me with the praise! :) The cel vinyl paint that I use has a very strong pigment, but it can be shaded down and of course colors have their own role. Cool colors recede naturally and warm colors come forward. Of course the acetate is glossy and it is forward (on top) of the background and that makes it seem to float above the branch.
