Here's the new cover!
It took a loooong time to finish. Last year I broke my collarbone while working on an earlier one . . . than my boss-at-the-time dropped a box full of metal pipes on me and rebroke it . . . then he knocked over a ladder onto me and broke it AGAIN. It's probably a good thing I lost that job, I'd probably be dead by now otherwise. Anyways, the damn thing never did heal right and then I went and got tendonitis or something in the elbow, so I had to paint this in bursts of an hour or so.
I think it turned out well, though. It's got my favorite color combos, purple and orange - I tried to do each cover with a distinct color scheme. I had fun drawing the treeling (the little lemurlike critter clinging to Ratha's nape) - in this world. There's all kinds of symbolism going on in the character's actions, which I can't explain without spoiling the plot for you. This book is kind of special to me because I got to know Clare after emailing her a question about it. Yep, ascended fanboy . . . what a dream come true!!!

The design is by 1106 Design. They really did a nice job, carrying the sky blue through the rest of the dust jacket.

Well despite all your trials you did an awesome job. Sorry to hear about what you had to go through and I agree had you not gotten out of there you probably would be dead and we would be down a talented person. There are not enough of us around so no dieing on us please :)
