This is Barclay, named after the Andrew Barclay and Sons Co.



He is my newest Railway Series fan character.



He is a 0-4-0t fireless steam shunter. I designed him with the idea that he could be a Sodor engine.



Originally I though he could work at the newly discovered coal fields addressed in Richard Awdry's "Sodor in 2025" lecture.



But then I thought..... He could be used at the Crovan's Gate Works for both shunting and demonstrations for the students enrolled at the Sodor University.



He is a plucky and very curious engine. Always on the move. Never cheeky, always polite. Can never sit still for very long unless he happens to overhear one of the lectures told by the University professors, or getting to watch the workmen and students work on the other engines and rolling stock. Since he is a fireless engine he could never go far and is always curious about the world. He often asks questions and is always wanting to learn more, even though his constant questions can sometimes annoy the other engines. His crew even joked about enrolling him in college just to satisfy his curiosity. A curiosity that has gotten him into trouble on a few occasions.
