I was taken out to the cinema to see "Red Sonja".
The film is best carried by the horse and the main villain. The protagonist is so mediocre that for half the film you find yourself wishing for some semblance of a plot rather than just terrible angles and incoherent scenes. The girl playing the young version of the heroine is so thrilled to be filming that during the scene with the "evil king's" attack, she’s filled with excitement and joy, rather than horror at the fact that her entire family was butchered. I won’t comment on the fight scenes; I simply think that if they had been cut, the film would have been better. Points for the catfight in the mud, but it would have been more engaging without weapons.
The work of the graphics team was excellent; they really put in a lot of effort. The same goes for the supporting characters and extras.
Overall... I wouldn't say it was bad, but there were so many blunders and clumsy transitions between scenes and storylines. Some characters seemed to be completely lost... It felt like the film was made by second-year students.
But in my heart, there’s a love story with the horse! I think it’s the best and most logical storyline. I wholeheartedly ship that pair... Plus, they ended up together in the end (spoiler).
