This was part of a project for our ‘Animation planning’ module at University. The idea was that we had to design and plan an animation, basically following every step we would need towards making a full animation in real life, but stopping short of actually doing the animating. Ours was a children’s cartoon called ‘Deaths guide to Staying alive’, a series a shorts where death would teach children about things such as road safety and not talking to strangers. The difference was that he would teach them underworld equivalents. The one we went ahead with was ‘How to cross the path of the beastie’, or ‘How to cross the road’ to you and me. The two characters besides death were Timmy and Evelyne. Evelyn was a goody two shoes with a sadistic streak, and always got everything right. Timmy was a ghost who kept dieing every time he was reincarnated due to his foolishness. Timmy crosses the road first, but of course gets it wrong and is flattened by the oncoming beasties. Evelyne follows all the steps correctly and hops across the road without incident.
The big chap in this picture is the ‘mega beastie’ that runs over Timmy.
