Throughout the day, Lord Frith’s succour could be felt — spiritual rabbits roamed the land, shimmering with golden hues. His blessing upon the kingdom was a phenomenon witnessed by all rabbit-kind.
Even in the war-torn ruins of a fallen civilization, the rabbit’s guidance lingered.
Hovels and burrows clustered around a sacred landmark: a great wooden statue of a sleeping rabbit, entwined with the trunk of a massive tree. Carved by the finest craftsmen of their age, the statue and tree together are known as Heartroot — the place where El-ahrairah still slumbers.
It is said his dreams shape the golden, glowing rabbits seen in the fields, spirits from beyond, offering their service evermore, their shimmer a sign of his communion with the Light of Lord Frith.
Though betrayed and overthrown by the other races of the ancient world, El-ahrairah’s friendship with Frith still served to protect the kingdom and all its inhabitants.
Osiris, however, had other plans.
Disregarding the wisdom of El-ahrairah and the light of Frith, Osiris followed knowledge whispered in shadows, seeking the path of Inlé.
He knew of a secret sect — one still bound to the forgotten bloodlines of the world: humans, half-humans, demons, rabbits, owls, foxes, wolves, and more.
That sect?
