Glad you asked! 3 + 7 is the lowest % hand in the game. If you get it, you fold. He said that he got the full huge on the river (last card) which meat at the very best he was betting with a pair of 7's to open, against two overcards. Meaning anyone with a single ace, or single jack would beat him.
When the next 7 came, he'd bet hard on triple 7's. But everyone on the table would easily guess he either got 3x7 or two pair or aces are triple aces. The rest of the table would find.
But if somehow someone had a jack and an ace, that means that he bet a looooot of money on a chance. Won on a super slum handthat should not have been played.
In short, any hand can be a winner, but playing the worst % longshots, makes the others at the table angry! ;)

There are many different terms for 'brave' The only thing I can tell was that he was playing a "LIMIT" game meaning that the people who played opposite him couldn't buy him out of the hand (scare him away) because the max was probably 10 bucks a round, or that it wasn't for cash at all, so that means that players like this think "If I lose, what's the harm?" and play every hand. It doesn't make for good poker, it makes for good 'luck' at that point, everyone might as well hold all their cards all the time, everyone stays in the hand and they deal out all 7 cards and say "Who's got the best hand?"
Poker is about being a little aggressive, or sneaky. The hand that played out above, probably was a low ball limit game. That's why I'm a fan of no limit games. If I have a good hand, I'll back you out. I'll beat you up, I'll fight kill chew and tear you apart for the money I'm laying down. (Yes I've bluffed my way into a 300 dollar pot with a 3,7 before, but that was the ballsiest move I've ever done) I played 1 hour at a table and never played any hands but killers like A, K. The players around me knew that I'd only play GOOD hands, so I saw three people stay in, I saw no 'high' cards laid out, highest was a 10, so I raised. They were already scared that I stayed in, so they matched me thinking that their good hands would beat my A,K. (As previously played, they thought I'd only play good "HOLE CARDS or what was dealt to me) So when I kept reraising, they then thought, "Oooh fuck me, he must have hit trips or a boat on shitty low cards and is going to wipe me out," so they all folded. It took pure lying to win that hand, the 'river' was never reached.
THAT is a poker hand.....this.....was luck.
BUT...........fuckin' awesome drawin' dude. I love it.
