I beat the odds and survived thanks to some amazing doctors and friends by my side.
The future is still pretty uncertain but hopefully we can keep this little heart going for a while longer.

My Aunt, may she rest in piece, was diagnosed with chest cancer when she was 16 and was given three years to live. This was back in the 70's. She was the second person in my country, New Zealand, to receive radiation therapy. It beat the cancer and she kept on going.
The radiation therapy caused calcification of the cartilage around her heart later in life, so she needed surgery again, and a pace maker.
After all that hardship though, she didn't pass until after 2020, she lived to see her children grow and she got to meet her grand children.
These stories happen often, where doctors will say "you have x time to live" and modern medicine just decides to prove them wrong, combined with the fight and fire of the human spirit.
I'm glad to hear some good news in your update Kasey, I hope your story turns similar pages, and that you get much more time to continue living. ❤
