It’s been a while since Cress has been in the macro role with Firrin reprising his nano role from the first time he was introduced. This is the smallest Firrin has ever been and he soon won’t be forgetting it.

Summary:
Running late for a beach trip with the guild, Firrin decides to take a shortcut via a fellow guild member’s Teleport move. Things go awry, however, as another guild member’s attempt to use Minimize gets mixed in with the move. Unaware he was shrunken down to 1 mm, Firrin will discover that his quick trip to the beach comes with a very small price.
Special thanks to
quil930543 for reviewing the story and for the idea of Firrin getting shrunk by another Pokémon’s move accidentally. I'm sure he will be getting a thank you card from Firrin any day now…
“Darn it!” Firrin yelled as he dashed through one of the guild’s hallways. The Charmander was panting heavily as his footsteps resounded throughout the building’s walls. “I can’t believe how long that took! Everyone’s already been at the beach for at least an hour!”
He burst out of the front doors of the Adventurer’s Guild like a Flame Wheel out of control. When he reached the bottom of the steps, a familiar voice rang out.
“SHADOW BALL!”
He turned his head to see a female Meowstic launch the ghost-type attack into the sky. “Oh, it’s Selene from Team Eclipse,” Firrin murmured.
Selene’s ears perked up. She turned and caught the Charmander watching as her Shadow Ball disappeared into the sky and exploded. “Firrin? I thought you were already at the beach with Cress.”
Firrin rubbed the back of his head and looked slightly away. “Yeahhh, about that. I had some work I needed to finish up before I left, so I told Cress to go on ahead.” The Charmander glanced back at her and her partner, Solana, an Espeon who was clearly struggling with a move. “So, the two of you stayed behind to train—”
“MINIMIZE!” the Espeon yelled out. Nothing happened.
Selene closed her eyes and sighed, pressing a paw to her forehead.
Firrin blinked at the display, or lack thereof, with his mouth slightly agape. “She does realize that’s not a move an Espeon can normally learn, right?”
“I tried to tell her,” Selene groaned, giving a helpless shrug, “but she really wants to—,” she raised her paws and made air quotes, “and I quote, ‘See the world in a different way’.”
Firrin crossed his arms, still staring at the Espeon. “You know, there are other ways she could easily achieve that… O-OH!” his eyes lit up suddenly looking at Selene, “I remember hearing that you can use Teleport, right?”
Selene’s ears twitched at the sudden change of topic. “Y-Yeah, that’s correct,” she sighed, her eyes half-lidded. “It’s probably why Solana thinks she can learn Minimize.”
“Can you use Teleport on me to get me to the beach, please?” the Charmander asked.
The Meowstic blinked. “W-Well—”
Pressing both hands together and closing his eyes, Firrin became desperate. “Please, I’m begging you! It’ll take me at least 30 minutes to get there on foot!”
“…A-Alright,” Selene relented at last.
Firrin did a little fist pump, grinning. “Thanks, Selene! You’re the best!”
Selene concentrated, a yellow energy swirling around her as she began to power up. She focused on Firrin, the glow intensifying as it began to shift over to the Charmander.
“TELEPORT!”
At the same time, Solana also had managed to power up somehow, a bluish aura flaring around her.
“MINIMIZE!”
The yellow vortex of energy enveloped the Charmander, but before he warped away, its aura suddenly changed to a purplish color. The next moment, he vanished.
“Aww! I thought I had it this time!” Solana whined as she collapsed to the ground, her tail flailing about in frustration.
Selene tilted her head in confusion as she stared where Firrin was. “That was… odd.”
A sharp gale of energy buffeted the fire-type as the world around him warped. When Firrin’s vision cleared, he found himself standing in a vast field of large rocks and boulders spanning across his view. It seemed to stretch on forever.
“W-Wha—” The Charmander scanned the area slowly. “W-Where am I?… This isn’t the beach…”
As he stumbled forward, he realized he was on one of those boulders. He couldn’t put a claw on it, but these rocks looked strange yet familiar somehow. Firrin kept spinning around, getting more of the world in his view until he spotted a massive green foam-textured wall in the distance.
“What the hell is this?” the fire-type questioned. He leapt from rock to rock to get to the wall, which was much further away than he thought. Each rock he landed onto felt oddly smooth and sometimes broke away in tiny chunks as he landed on it or shifted his body to make the next jump.
At last, after many jumps, the green wall loomed over him. Up close, it was no longer smooth, but riddled with gigantic gaps and pitted craters. Its green coloring was also distorted as its surface was speckled with areas caked in dirt. Craning his neck upward, he tried to estimate how far away the top was.
“That looks at least 30 ft (~9.1 m) high…” Firrin mumbled to himself. To the Charmander, it looked a little bigger than a two-story building.
He stepped up to the massive wall, intent on scaling it to survey the surrounding area. As he did, however, the unmistakable scent of rubber hung in the air. It certainly caught him off guard.
“Is the wall made out of rubber?” he questioned, reaching out a hand to grab onto one of the numerous gaps on it. It felt strangely soft and spongy. He shook off the weirdness of it all and began to climb, pulling himself up from one cratered foothold to the next.
In a matter of minutes, the fire-type hauled himself over to the top edge to be greeted by a vast rolling plain of green material. From here, the ground was bizarrely uneven, having unusual raised circular sections that came up just above his ankles. Even further back, the ground dipped into a large valley before curving back up. He barely had taken a few steps forward across the strange terrain when an acrid stench laced with an overpowering coconut scent slammed into him.
“Oh, Arceus!” Firrin gagged, recoiling and throwing a hand over his snout. He made his way toward a large rubbery-looking obelisk jutting out of the ground as the overpowering scent assaulted him.
As he neared it, Firrin noticed some strange thick structures attached to the pillar’s top that ran down to the ground far in the distance. He couldn’t explain why, but everything around him felt… familiar.
Twenty minutes later, he finally stood at the base of the massive column rising from the rubbery green plain. Running a claw over it, he found it just as spongy as the surface he’d climbed.
THOOM!
The ground trembled under his feet.
THOOM!
A second impact reverberated throughout his body.
THOOM!
The third impact felt like an earthquake that nearly knocked him off balance.
Firrin swung his head around in the direction of the impacts, only for his jaw to drop. An impossibly enormous blue foot was approaching him and getting bigger each passing second.
Then, it finally hit him. He was at the beach, but somehow shrunk! He was standing on Cress’s flip-flop! Then his eyes widened… Minimize! It had to be Solana’s Minimize!
“Sh*t!” he exclaimed, heart pounding rapidly as he waved his hands and yelled in a vain attempt to get the attention of his giant partner.
However, it was much too late for the fire-type as the massive blue toes wrapped around him and the towering column, wedging him between it and the gigantic scaly surface.
“CRESS! DON’T—!” Firrin let out a muffled scream at the top of his lungs, but of course he was way too small to even be heard, just a microscopic Charmander no bigger than a grain of sand.
“Where’s Firrin?” he sighed as he wiggled his toes into his flip-flops. “He should’ve been here at least an hour ago. I guess I’ll take a walk down the beach until he arrives.”
Firrin’s stomach sank as he was pressed against the malodorous, coconut-scented, lotion-slick surface. It looked like he would be joining Cress for his walk… whether he liked it or not.
