The marching tune carries along the streets and echoes in back alleys, its jaunty pace making all who hear it prick up an ear and tap their foot without a thought. The tapping gets louder, followed by a snapping of fingers, before you know it everyone has stood up and started to dance in place.
Big smiles grow on faces while arms begin to pump, a whole body motion that gets them all moving into the street, following that mesmerizing rhythm to its source.
A few laugh as people start crowing along with the song, but soon those people start crowing too. Feathers fly into the air, the squawking grows to a din, as left and right feathers, wings, beaks, clawed feet all start bursting from once-human features. The people don't seem to mind, the pointed beaks just help them sing! The long segmented toes help them march! And those big round tailfeathers help keep the beat as they march in perfect step.
They are smiling, clapping wings, wiggling feathers, slaves to the rhythm as their minds fill with the cacophany of the all-engrossing tune. They are part of it now, adding their squawking voice to the chorus, joining other chickens as the last of their humanity pops out in a feathery blast, leaving behind happy squawky hypnotized fowl bandmembers, ready to follow their bandleader back to his lair where they will get their official and permanent induction to the Clucky Plumpnote Chicken Band.
(PS: Chicken hats are optional, but tres chic for the human-to-chicken transformee)
