"I know this is hard to believe, but I am one of the few things here you can actually trust."
I love the idea of some big, horrible monster who turns out to be (as he says) one of the few things someone can trust somewhere. I mean, literally everything about that creature (even if you don't know the D&D background of what it is) screams "run away!" Maybe the creature isn't in an aggressive mood at the moment. Maybe he is just misunderstood. Maybe even it is just a brief truce because of some common enemy. Regardless, the idea that someone has to work alongside the monster is really appealing.
I also love the idea that big, monstrous creatures can be WAY more intelligent than people give them credit for. They see what they are, maybe witness some horrific acts, and just assume they are relatively low-intellect beasts, but that is far from true.
This is my Glabrezu sculpt. It is mostly done, but was playing around with some rigging details and weight painting issues today. The little humanoid arms are still a bit less than ideal, but they are getting better. This is the next fellow I will be doing a releasable avatar of, as well. It is more or less on-model for the D&D Glabrezu, other than the additional eyes he seems to have grown. Whether Glabrezu have tails or not seems to vary between D&D artists and maybe system releases. The canonical ones might be just a hair larger than this fellow, but he had to fit into this space.

I always thought that most stories take the easy way out and just do the these are evil like if aliens did invade I doubt they would all be on board. We can't even do that with our countries. And they are telling me that they managed to do it with a whole planet? Also I like the idea of friendly monsters. One last thing if ever the question is with tail or no tail. Tail is always the correct choice.
