Behind Closed Doors
"My baby makes me proud
Lord, don't she make me proud
She never makes a scene
By hanging all over me in a crowd
'Cause people like to talk
Lord, don't they love to talk
But when they turn out the lights
I know she'll be leaving with me
And when we get behind closed doors
Then she lets her hair hang down
And she makes me glad that I'm a man
Oh, no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors
My baby makes me smile
Lord, don't she make me smile
She's never far away
Or too tired to say: "I want you"
She's always a lady, just like a lady should be
But when they turn out the lights
She's still a baby to me
'Cause when we get behind closed doors
Then she lets her hair hang down
And she makes me glad that I'm a man
Oh, no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors
Behind closed doors."

A secret...sooooper secret commission for blackie5150 of his character and his wonderful girlfriend, tibbywolf. It's sort of for her birthday, sort of just because she fucking rocks. Anyway, just them being adorable together.
Best Furry Couple Ever

Fo' shizzle. I love you fucking guys. And, Deyna, I'm custom matting and framing this thang for the other part of yo birfday present. Mwahahahhahaha!
Characters belong to themselves and each other. Yeah, I'm aware that was corny as hell.

Thanks so much, lady! I usually try not to outline too much of the background at all because most people want the focus to be on the characters. I might have to try to work with inking the background in some pieces soon though. I don't want all my stuff to look the same.
Whoooo- you did get it finished today!
I love how well you conveyed the evening tones in both the scenery and the characters themselves. It's so much easier for digital artists who can just run the natural colors through filters to bring down the lighting and give it the 'evening glow' look, but so many don't know how to accomplish it traditionally. You've always done a wonderful job of ambience lighting through traditional media. I also am always impressed with how well you can color a predominantly black-furred character and not make his features absolutely disappear.
I also really like the minute details, like the little floral and pinstripe pattern on the pillow, and the patterns on the bedspread that compliment the tagboard the commission is mounted on.
I also think Blackie chose a fitting tribute to their relationship as a gift. So many people on this site seem to make gifts of bizarre fetish art and smut. It's nice to see a quiet image of the characters so obviously enjoying one another's company and being tender with one another.

I told you I would! Stubborn Wielder is stubborn!
I'm really really trying to get better and braver with lighting. I won't lie. It's one of the things that scares the shit out of me in my art. Especially when someone's paid for a piece. I try to build it up SLOWLY though so I don't jump right into fucking it up.
India ink and brushpens work great for patterns when you're using markers. They don't run but they'll soak up some of the shading so they don't just look like they're sitting on top of the paper or something.
Yeah, Blackie's a sweet and thoughtful little guy (I say little and the boy towers over me...oh well, he's sweet enough to let me pull on his cheeks and stuff, so he gets to be called little). And it's very nice to work on a meaningful piece for two people whose relationship I really really respect and admire.

You never cease to amaze me with your fantastic grasp of lighting <3 What a mood you've created for this piece! And I love how it's backed on that patterned paper, it makes a very romantic and personal touch to it all. I love Tibby's character design so much! Sheppys are awesome.
Awww, girl, I thank you so much for the comment on the lighting. Working with different lighting scares me, but I'm trying to get better. Blackie and Deyna really like different colors and lighting situations in their pieces, so I feel I can be a little bit braver on some of their work.
Lol, Blackie's such a sweet boy. He picked that paper out for the piece, and I tried to work the colors in the background to match. He's such a thoughtful boy.
And I've always liked Deyna's/Tibby's design too. Proof that you can be unique and simple at the same time. Thanks for the thoughtful comment!

Yeah...Often, the differences are surprisingly little but remarkably effective. The difference between pure sexual lust in an image is focus on the breasts or other naughty bits, but sensual images focus on the mood, emotion and expressions on the characters. Indeed, it makes a huge difference.
You're very welcome!

Absolutley brilliant! You've perfectly captured the romantic late evening mood in this one. Their expressions clearly add to that. Seriously you are one of the best when it comes to canine facial expressions. And doing black color is always tricky but you did ace work on his fur here.
Need I say the glass candle containers are epic?

thanks so much! I'm glad that Blackie and Deyna trust me enough to handle lighting in their pieces. I know these guys in real life (I'm that lucky!) so I know how they interact, and they are absolutely pukey cute. With black, I find it's best to lay down the darkest color sparingly and then slowly build up. That way you don't saturate the hell out of it.
And thanks so much for saying you like the candles. Those were a bit hard.

Awww, girl, you're welcome. But most of the credit goes to your man for coming up with the idea when he heard a song on the radio. You're always on his mind, lady! I was just lucky enough to be entrusted with the idea, and I'm honored to have been able to work on it.
Thanks for the kind comments, Deyna. I appreciate them more than I can explain. Now I'm just waiting on the custom glass to get cut...*hissss*. If they don't call by Monday, I'm going to take the frame to Lowe's and just get them to do it. I normally like to go to local companies for this sort of thing, but if they don't do the work, a chain store gets the business.
