Daryll's method of trying to cool herself here didnt work because it is the equivalent of dousing a fire with water. While yes you can put out a fire, it doesn't mean the wood/sticks/etc. are automatically cooled, it takes time.
In her case, that time isn't really going to come as the living body is constantly circulating blood and thus always keeping warm. So while it may offer a little relief, the overall result isn't going to KEEP you cool, and for her probably an upset tummy. (Or not, cause we've seen all these girls have iron stomachs)
