It was a hot summer night like most others. They had just gotten done with the annual firemen’s parade and were now given free run of the fair. The collie was still new, so she stayed off to the side, not wanting to ruin all of the groups that had already formed.
They had the truck parked in the field next to the rides so the collie sat on the front, and just watched at the sun went down and casted an orange glow on the metal of the Ferris wheel. Her coat was laid on the side bumper leaving her in just her dress pants and white button up shirt.
“Miracle girl is all by herself?” a voice said. The collie looked over and saw a faintly familiar face walking towards her.
“It happens. Just kinda enjoying the view.”
“Whatever,” the guy said. He tossed her a beer and the tattoo on his forearm fur made her realize who it was. He worked the shift opposite of her and was the womanizer of the station. She caught the beer, not wanting it to spill on the truck and have to clean it later.
The collie looked at it, looking for any sign of tampering. It didn’t seem like there was one. Her digit popped the tab on the can and took a swig, but by the time she looked back up, her co-worker was walking away.
She smiled and held the can up in a toast. The beer was cold and just the thing to complete her night at the fair.
Warm up piece for the day.
wanted to see me at a day at the fair...well considering that this is what most of my memories of the fair are, this is what you get through the eyes of Anette.
Enjoy!
