25 Essential Expressions Challenge - Pulchra Fellini
With my announcement that I wanted to draw fanart of Pulchra from Zenless Zone Zero I immediately started doodling. However my early attempts were really not to my liking. I dunno, I guess I'm feeling so disconnected with my own drawing style right now that she really didn't look right when I tried to draw her. So I decided to take a bold leap and try and learn a new style which is closer to the official art for her. And what better way to practice than by doing an expression challenge.
I'm sure longtime watchers will remember the time I took this challenge all the way back in 2009. Granted I used one of my original OC's back then, but it was fun to revisit this. Working on the this took waaaaaaaaay longer than intended though. I looked up tons of anime references and must have redrew most of these at least five times each before I settled with something I thought was adequate. Then I went a step further and coloured and shaded all of them as well. My hand really started cramping by the end of it.
Overall though, I'm rather pleased with how she turned out in this and I feel comfortable with drawing full images of her going forward.
What will I be drawing, I hear you ask? Porn! And lots of it! What else were you expecting?
Anyways. Hope you like the fruits of my labour. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Reiterating what I said in private, your control over expressions and body language is amazing. You absolutely nailed each of these expressions! The flats alone looked great, but the extra bit of shading and highlighting REALLY makes everything pop!
Drunk is still my favourite of the bunch, although Rage and WTF are up there too <3

They did do a S rank Anby (who is A rank) like close to last year and rumor suggests Billy might get a S rank as well someday. i know Pulchra's chances are slim but who knows what will happen. Maybe we might get something story related to her childhood friend or side missions to hang out with her more (like maybe more movie dates with more characters? They went out of their way to make the movie theater a thing after all).
Your work is so good, Rukaisho! I've followed you for... damn, super long time. Maybe two or so screen names ago? And I've really, really enjoyed your work all that time. It keeps getting better and better, and these headshots and expression studies are wonderfully done :)
