Satomi! 
The academy's dark halls are filled with ghosts, both literal and figurative. Having stood for centuries and survived a war, Astral Grove has a past both shadowed and hopeful. At the heart of that history rests the Yuko family, Satomi’s ancestors, and one of the academy's founders.
For generations, the Yuko family has been prominent in magical society, producing powerful fighters and influential politicians. Ever since the dawn of the realm, their name has been tied to the magical world's inner workings. Now, all those high expectations fall squarely on Satomi. Not that she minds, she’s used to the pressure, growing up in a family of perfectionists. Satomi stays safe by fitting the mold, never drawing unwanted attention. She’s mastered the art of appearing flawless, but the imperfections she hides come out through fighting, wand-to-hand combat, and cooking. These are her outlets, but how long can she contain all that she suppresses?
Satomi yearns to be different in a family of careful, predictable carbon copies. Yet, she knows better than to step out of line in the public eye. When her family acknowledges her, they praise her as their "shining star," a title they think fits her light-based magic. To them, she is both the Yuko family’s and the academy’s shining star.
But Satomi doesn’t see herself as a star. Stars, after all, eventually die out. She prefers to think of herself as a beacon of light, a hope that will endure, even in the darkest of times.
