The year is 1853. But it's worth making a small lyrical digression.
The Seinan War (or the Satsuma Uprising) in 1877 in the Japanese Empire will show how outdated the tactics of samurai melee combat are (meaning, without the use of firearms), no matter how professional a warrior is, a well-aimed shot (or even a volley of several cartridges) is likely to disarm an infantryman before he can reach to the goal. However, as we know: "a samurai has no purpose, only a path." Cupid just doesn't know what it's like to catch a bullet without doing tremendous damage in close combat.
Strangely enough, the rangers with whom he serves side by side respected and did not want to lose this "reckless fool" so much that they gave the tiger a gift in the form of a heavy cavalry cuirass to provide Cupid with at least some protection from explosions, fragments and possible tangential bullet hits. Striped quickly got used to the new armor weight, achieving amazing efficiency in combat.
Amur is a real infantry "tank" of that time.

Heyhey! A friend of mine led me to stumble upon your artworks, and first and foremostly, I just have to say your art is such a feast for the eyes, stylistically. Secondly, this novel of yours looks fascinating from what little of it I've seen so far, and I was wondering if you'd posted something akin to an exposition or summary of the world affairs in your novel anywhere, or an explanation of the story's themes or genre (i.e. if it's to be an action-packed political thriller, a melancholic tale of young folk sent to die for the old, a period romance with a backdrop of raging battle, etc.) as you currently envision it. I'd personally absolutely love to read a short primer on the world of 1853 to understand the similarities and deviations from our own year 1853 C.E.
Aww. Hello~ And thank you!
In short, this novel should address philosophical issues and consider both military operations and civilian life from unusual angles. I want the audience to hate some of the characters and worry a lot about some of them. The novel will probably have several endings, and the viewer will have to think about what he understood in each of them.
As for the world of 1853: I am writing about the Crimean War from the perspective of various countries. My characters cover different points of view in accordance with that era. That is, you will not see the author's opinion about politics and statehood, but the novel will raise these issues. All the people there have been replaced by anthropomorphic animals. Accordingly, military tactics, production and some areas of life have been revised, but in principle, they do not deviate much from the real story.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you more, so as not to make spoilers too early!

That sounds awesome, and exactly like the kind of thing I'd be into! The Crimean War is one that I don't know very much about, admittedly, so I might even learn something too, haha.
I can't wait to see more art of the characters and such, not to mention how excited I am to read the actual novel!
