After all the Pridelands had been through, Nala, now only days from having Simba’s cubs, never thought she’d ever get along with any hyenas, let alone one that had been there from day one of Scar’s reign, and had even gotten a taste of her wrath during the fiery battle that ended it.

But, there was something different about Zoww when Nala stumbled into him. He was sincere, lonely after his clan left him behind, and most importantly, sorry. Everything inside of her mind told her to chase him off for even being in her and Simba’s kingdom. But, her heart won over her instincts that day, and her heart told her to listen to this hyena.

Zoww was just a baby when Shenzi and Scar schemed to have Mufasa killed, and he was never really told the truth of the matter until it was far too late. on top of that, Nala became aware as she grew up about the strife between the Pridelands and Northern hyena clan. Generations of jealousy and disgust had lead to a clan wiling to work with a usurper who promised them everything they ever wanted. Zoww knew full well what it ended up costing him. When he spoke about his father, Nala finally knew what needed to be done, and as Queen, she had the power to make it happen.

So, she believed him, and she accepted his apology, and then, she invited him to come along with her. Before both knew it, they were sharing chuckles and banter as Nala showed him around Milele, now fully healed after the many months Scar spent ruining it.

As she walked about with her new spotted friend, Nala looked up with hope, knowing that her cubs would be born in a better world. One where lions and hyena could truly come together for once.
