Comment:
Silently they walked side by side, Father and Son. Mahdu didn't know why Jahura had brought all the way here into swamps, nor did have any inkelling of the terrible news that would follow. The Great King of Ghosts moved as the fog, drifting solomnly through the grasses; his every footfall hushed by the soft damp earth. Far were they from the place the pride called home, an eerie stillness engulfing them and threatening to devour both of them alive.
"Mahdu... my son." The adolescent felt his ears pivot back against his skull at the deep tone of voice. Silver eyes lifted to look at his Elder, who now, had ceased his motions. Jahura, tall and proud, kept his eyes forward and sharp without even so much as looking down to his son. Within the pit of his stomach, Mahdu could sense that something terrible had happened. The Great King turned his gaze finally upon his son, eyes filled with resolve and also a great sorrow, "Your mother... is dead."
Shock took rule over him, and Mahdu looked aghast at his father, "....no..."
A snippet from Mahdu's past when he was beginning to come of age. The poor thing's mother left the pride in the dark of night and died alone. She was sick and didn't want any of the others to see her passing. Depressing, I know. o3o
