Ok, so this is going to be my (hopefully) last post in regards to “AI” art because to be quite frank? I am really tired of this battle stretching on for this long.
Back in 2024, I made a post on instagram going over Instagram’s new inclusion of their AI program and how it was made difficult to opt out, I talked about the problems with that, the general pushback and exodus and even the discussions being made at the time of making that post, In the beginning, I like many others sympathized with the anti-ai movement but I’ve had my critique here and there, but it was not enough for me to be dissuaded to keep supporting the movement. But the more I stuck around and heard other talking points, the less reasonable it started to be, showcasing contradictions and adoption of philosophies that artists have been critical about in the past to a point that I slowly distanced myself from the movement.
Now let’s get this out of the way and say that as an artist who’s been doing this for 8 years, I’m not trying to argue “in defense of AI” or “Pro AI” arguments since that’s already a loaded statement in of itself, what I AM arguing for is the support of creativity regardless of whether its generated or not since in the end, it’s still a means of creating art in the world for people to enjoy for hopefully the better.
