I wouldn't say Roko is naturally suspicious. Brand simply doesn't want to give Roko the time of day that he isn't a scumbag who's out to ruin his life.
Heck if Roko wanted to, he could of just abandoned Sadia and Brand when he got the shark body. I don't think Brand ever acknowledged that.
