From within the highest enclosure atop the tallest perch, Goose the ball python observes the floors beyond her glass walls. The tables, chairs, and carpet have been littered with torn sheets of wrapping paper, a sweet smelling blue goop, and bits and bobs left behind from the loud group of young hairless primates. Twice, she had been snatched up by the Rat-Bearer only to be handed out to the young ones who's sticky, slimy hands left no part of her well-kept, and previously pristine scales, undefiled.
And what did she get for the bombardment of unyielding squishes, squashes, and overall spiritual and physical molestation? Nothing. No rats, no mice, not even the whiff of weasel. The Rat-Bearer had forgotten about her. Or maybe perhaps more mischievously, as it is their nature, the human didn't even deem a reward for her sufferings appropriate or necessary.
"Goose will remember that," she brooded as she surveyed the sub terrestrial plain beneath her.
After a while, a gust of wind blew through the screen doors across from the wall where Goose's enclosure was stacked. Bits of paper went flying every which way and then once again settled down across the floor. This fortunate gust had sent a paper cone hat tumbling into the view of Goose. From her vantage point, she could just see the faintest hint of yellow and white stars printed along its brim. Goose could see for certain - this was no mere paper cone. This was a wizard hat. A REAL wizard hat judging by the intricate star detailing on its exterior. Goose was amazed. Wizard hats mean magic, magic means wishes, wishes mean rats, rats means tasty. And perhaps she could also have the failed Rat-Bearer loose some fingers for his incompetence as well.
Goose sprung out, with her tail she pried her favorite stick from inside her hide, and with her snout she began to quickly nuzzle her way out of her enclosure. She then immediately descended from her towering rack onto the floor with her stick in tail.
After checking the cost was clear of all stinky sticky primates, Goose dashed for the wizard hat and slithered into its strap in such a way to properly mount it atop her head.
She had done it. She could immediately feel the unlimited power seeth from between each scale of her body. She coiled up and raised her staff and began the rat incantation.
Just then another gust of wind made its way through the screen doors. Paper once again was picked up and it swirled around Goose in a circle above her as she hissed the spell. A red piece of wrapping paper then stuck itself around her, enveloping the strong wind that was swirling about her as she hissed "With my serpent pell, my stick, and my hat - I call apon the powers. Deliver me a rat!"
Blue magic radiated in a small orb above her stick. Bright and water like in nature it began to manifest the shape of a rat before her. But before the ghost like shape could become physical- big stinky, sweaty, sticky fingers grasped her coils and lifted her from the sub terrestrial plain. Goose watched in defeat as her hat and cape fell hopelessly to the ground as she was once again placed and locked behind the glass walls of her enclosure. The glowing blue magic continued to intensify rapidly until it then suddenly popped like a bubble and was no more.
Rage crackled through her coils. Goose reared, every muscle ready to deliver a strike that would end the Rat-Bearer once and for all. But before her fangs could flash, he walked away, oblivious.
She pressed her snoot against the glass and hissed, "Next time you leave your sweaty stinky sausages near me, im starting with the pinky"
