Finally! After a ton of art block, stressing out, and constant trial and error, I've finally achieved my goal of making my own character's reference sheet! Whew!
I had to teach myself so many new things in order to get to this level of drawing quality. What you're seeing here is the culmination of roughly a full year of me tinkering around and learning how to get better at art. Up until now, I was never able to figure out how to rotate a character, let alone draw perspective, hence why my younger self always avoided it by only drawing 2D side profiles. This is literally the first time I've ever been able to successfully draw multiple perspectives, and since a good reference sheet should avoid lighting and shadows to prevent obstructing the colors and design of the character, using shading as a shortcut to indicate depth wasn't an option. I also wanted to push myself to try a range of facial expressions too, which was especially difficult, but I believe in going the extra mile and looking to the work of professionals as inspiration. I really wanted to have my first reference sheet be something I could be proud of, so I really wanted to make sure it had a bit of everything here. Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
