When staff got a day off, Chelsey would meet up then too. Spending time around the city, mainly talking about life as well as the more personal details. Demona was still cautious about the subject of magic and her studies, but Chelsey managed to get her talking about it once and a while. It also really helped when the setting wasn’t somewhere people just listen in on conversations. One of those places in particular was the mall food court. 





“I understand taking comfort food, but, if you're out grabbing a bite somewhere, why not take something new and interesting?” Chelsey asked, “It’s a gamble, but, when you enjoy it, you really enjoy it.” And she took another bite of her spring wrap. 

“Maybe, but it’s not just a burger.” Demona said, “This thing has bacon, hot peppers, and a mix of jam slathered on and in the burger.” She took another bite and wiped her mouth from drippings, “It’s such an amazing pairing of sweet, salty, and spicy at once.”

“Okay, but that could be made at home with ease, and without the additives.” Chelsey said, “Next time my hubby is home, I’ll invite you. Then I can show you the magic of cooking at home.” The two giggled over that, but then Chelsey stole one of Demona’s fries. “I’ll admit, deep fry is harder to do at home.”

“I’ll order more of these next time.” Demona jokes, then takes a breath, “So your husband is away from home?” 

“It’s just conferences.” Chelsey waved her hand, “This time of year there’s a lot of them, so he has to fly out to the west coast.” She sighed happily, “Colton comes back so tired most of the time. It’s a side of him I kind of like, because then I get to smother him. A nice clean house, a warm, special meal awaits him, and we cuddle up to watch a movie.” 

“That actually does sound really nice.” Demona said, 

Chelsey sighed and hugged herself gently, “Yeah… Wrapped in blankets, resting up against one another. Someday we’ll even have kids.” a soft giggle escaped her, but it got quieter as she looked down at herself.



“Have you ever dressed up for those nights?” Demona asked, “I won’t get into detail, but do you try anything like a dress or some outfit he likes?” 

“I don’t think it’s a big deal.” Chelsey shrugs, looking away, “He’s already tired, and we both just want to be comfortable, so we just throw on what is soft and warm.” 

“I mean, you have a point. But you already made the house look lovely for his return.” Demona said, “You could fit the home image a bit better with just the right outfit.”
