A Love Letter?

So here's a special Valentine's Day artwork for 2025! featuring Benjamin and Kinn
The moment it happened was something Benjamin could never quite pinpoint. When did these feelings start? Where did they begin to flourish into something more? What had he been doing? These questions often billowed through his mind.
Perhaps it was the day they met in the library… the first time he had truly gotten close to Kinn, in a way.
That day, Benjamin had been reaching for a book, standing on his toes, fingers barely brushing the spine of the large leather volume. He let out small, strained noises as he stretched with all his might, oblivious to the student who had moved behind him in the cramped library aisle. Just as his fingertips nudged the book, it tipped forward and straight onto his head.
With a startled yelp, he stumbled backward, right into a firm chest.
A low grunt of annoyance rumbled behind him as the larger student was shoved into the shelf in front of him. Benjamin turned, eyes widening in horror when he realized who he had bumped into.
Kinn.
The cold, enigmatic wolf from orientation.
"A-Ah! I’m s-sorry, K-Kinn!" Benjamin stammered, his face pale with terror.
Kinn exhaled sharply, picking up the fallen book and dusting it off. His icy blue eyes flicked to the feline, then back to the book in his hand. With a sigh, he let out a quiet tsk.
"Look, it’s fine. Just watch where you're putting yourself, cat," he muttered.
Benjamin nodded quickly, bowing slightly in apology. But as he did, his eyes landed on a small envelope at Kinn’s feet.
A letter.
Hesitantly, he picked it up, his fingers brushing against the soft paper. There was a faint glow to it, just a trick of the light from the nearby window, reflecting off the delicate parchment. His ears twitched. Slowly, he held it out to Kinn.
"Is this… yours?" he asked anxiously.
Kinn glanced at the letter, his expression unreadable. The murmurs of nearby students reached them, whispers rippling through the quiet space. Benjamin’s face turned bright red as realization struck.
A Valentine’s letter?! Oh no! Everyone’s going to think how did I not see this?!
His tail fluffed out in panic as Kinn turned slightly, brushing past him.
"Keep it," the wolf mumbled.
It was said in that universally understood tone of Kinn.
Benjamin looked down at the envelope, his heart pounding. A strange warmth spread through him as he peeked up only to find Kinn watching him, a flicker of curiosity in his gaze.
H-He gave me a Valentine’s card? Is that… why he’s been following me so much? Oh gosh… what do I do…?
Meanwhile, Kinn had already stepped out of the library, his mind elsewhere.
Must’ve slipped out from one of those letters some girl gave me. Oh well, it’s not like it means anything to me. I’ll get more… ugh…
Yet, as the girls swarmed him with gifts and cards, a single thought lingered.
Although… he acted like it was special when it came from me. I wonder…
