This scene is set in the back-story of my ongoing novel series _Fates_of_the_Unicorns_.

The insect war continues to take it's toll, and villages and towns alike are forced to evacuate. They are the lucky ones, with enough survivors to make a retreat possible. This poor fox has been caught up in an infestation, but luckily a dragoness warrior found her and is hacking her way to rescue the maiden from a fate worse than death.

Think she will make it, or will it be too late?
