It is a rainbow saber, but the gal isnt gay, she's actually married, she wrote the character when she was younger and apparently she wanted a color shifting rainbow light saber :P It is awfully suggestive these days though.

I can Confirm what Drake has said, although technically I have been reliably informed that the blade coruscates colours, so it would rarely be a pattern like we see in all the pics of it. This way is just easier to draw. Beleive me, I've tried the coruscating.

There is a clever script in JKO where you can make the sabers just cycle colors every couple of seconds.
