Kioshi the Riolu and Shadow the Hedgehog fire shots at a firing range. Neither of them are competing or anything, just them on routine firearms training.
Behind those cold, elegant eyes, however, Kioshi couldn't help but admire him...
Shadow the Hedgehog, the ultimate lifeform, in the flesh.
I've heard stories about him and what he is capable of, reading the dossiers about his capabilities and his past.
According to the dossiers, he was created in collaboration with a mad scientist and an alien species. Shadow is designed to be a purebred fighter, able to control "chaos energy" similar to my aura, and is perhaps immortal. Shadow is no vampire like me, but still far beyond a normal being. It is likely Shadow was aware of his origins and abilities at the time of his creation, but he never got around to using his abilities until fate took him down a dark path.
When the project responsible for his creation was shut down, Shadow was forced into stasis, brainwashed by his creator to forget about his origins to exact revenge, until a series of events started jogging his memory again, causing him to have a change of heart.
The events and brainwashing from earlier resulted in Shadow losing his memories, just before the alien species invaded the planet. Shadow was then forced to relearn his abilities and past, even using his abilities that would've overcome him. He not only exceeded his limits, he also severed his connection to the aliens themselves. All of that from the echoes of the scientist's granddaughter, his only friend...

This is an odd thing to say, but he and I have a few similarities to one another.
I am Kioshi Koyokami, a Riolu born of a vampire bloodline. Alongside my natural fighting skills and the ability to control aura, I also have the ability to drain blood from others to regain my strength, or heal any wound I've sustained. Life threatening injuries can be healed within a few minutes, even to where death is nothing more than a deep sleep. My vampiric blood can also boost my aura to where I can cut steel and plough through waves of enemies without breaking a sweat.
When I was 9, a religious cult kidnapped and tortured me until I bled out; that's where my vampiric abilities awoke, causing me to lash out and fight back just to survive. I initially believed my vampire abilities were from the cult's rituals, yet my mother assured me otherwise, explaining our bloodline, training me so I can control myself and my own abilities. She even explains her own struggles of being a vampire, and the many heroic things she has done in spite of it.
I sometimes wonder why I was given these vampiric abilities, or why the rest of my family are affected, as if it's a family curse of some kind. Mother and grandfather couldn't answer that question even if they tried. When I got killed from a great fall, I asked the devil himself about the origins of our bloodline. I expected a cryptic or smug reply of some kind that I had to fill myself, only to see the devil himself look down in silence, as if he was in shame or regret of a mistake...

Both Shadow and I are alike in ways, both born with powers that are considered unnatural, forced to endure hardships in our early lives, fighting through everything with what we could with our own lives intact, even if it meant the world could label us as monsters.
Both of us are capable of hand to hand combat, firearms training, energy combat, super strength, super speed, super endurance, even demonic powers only used by the descendants of hell itself...
And still, I can tell by the way he moves, and that cold pitched black aura of his...
If I was forced to fight that hedgehog, there is no chance of winning against him. I've seen the reports of that black hedgehog's combat experiences through videos and radio chatter. He is much faster, better, and stronger than me by a long shot, even without the use of that Chaos Control ability of his.
At worst, I would be dead before I hit the ground.
Even if I became a Mega Lucario with full vampiric strength, it still wouldn't be close.

We are both descendants of monsters from completely different worlds, like two of a kind from differently themed decks.
I myself am unwilling to use my vampiric abilities in fear of what I might become, yet he uses his Black Arms abilities with near perfect control, even wearing it more proudly than I could myself.
Such power with so many odds stacked against him, and he pulled through all of it. I have yet to reach that level, yet I am not sure if I could pull through myself. I guess that's why he is considered the ultimate lifeform.
I envy you, Shadow the Hedgehog. You are amazing.
