Did you know? Notre Dame was built over a centuries old pagan site and city dating back to 1AD, all destroyed and erased by the Christians. The cathedral was a show of power and message to the remaining population & future generations.

I'm not religious either, but Notre Dame is more than just a cathedral; it's also a building full of centuries worth of history. It broke my heart when I heard of the fire. I remember hearing how they couldn't replace the wooden beams at the time, because the beams in there were made from massive trees centuries ago, and because of woodcutters and such, there just arent that big enough trees around anymore (plant more trees, people!). Apparently, they had to get over 60 carpenters with custom-made axes, and use 1,300 oak trees. But, the good news is that the restoration is nearly complete now, and the towers of Notre-Dame Cathedral will once again welcome visitors from September 20, 2025.
Where will visit next? Napoleon's Grand Armee if it's retreat from Moscow? The Mongol extermination of Baghdad? The Reichstag fire? The crusaders pillaging of Constantinople? The shooting of Ronald Reagan? American troops pushing helicopters off the flight deck of carriers during the full retreat from Vietnam? Devo performing to sold out crowds on their "Stop Making Sense" tour?
Who knows! But he's certain to have a great time wherever he goes and I think thats great.

it's also worth noting that the government that focused on restauring the cathedral has been cutting social aids even though poverty and unemployement are both on the rise during a period of inflation, so while the burning itself is sad some people have been prioritising the fate of stone and wood over the wellbeing of real, living people, so every time someone is a bit too intense about it it raises alarms in my head lol
