Rinna Garbadge – “Roach Girl”

Rinna Garbadge, better known as Roach Girl, is a cheerful and carefree superheroine whose sunny personality shines even brighter than her abilities. Though she’s often a little clueless and absent-minded, her heart is in the right place. She absolutely loves being around people and thrives on the attention that being a hero brings her—especially when it comes with snacks and treats. Unfortunately, most people keep their distance, since Rinna carries a permanent odor that follows her wherever she goes. Still, that doesn’t dampen her spirit one bit.

Her powers are a bizarre blessing: Rinna can crawl on walls and ceilings, lift over three tons, and run at speeds exceeding 200 mph. She has incredible reflexes and agility, as well as the ability to leap over 60 meters in a single bound. Her “roach-sense” grants her a precognitive knack for avoiding danger, allowing her to subconsciously dodge incoming attacks. Roach Girl is also unbelievably durable—able to withstand blunt force, extreme temperatures, and even explosions. On top of that, she rapidly regenerates from injuries, can chew and digest almost anything for sustenance, and is completely immune to disease, toxins, poisons, and radiation.

Living up to her insect inspiration, she is a master escape artist and has adapted to surviving in the most unlikely places. She usually makes her home in the city dump or sewers, where she feels most comfortable.

Her origin story is a bit unusual—Rinna wasn’t given her powers by the classic radioactive insect bite. In fact, the bite from a radioactive roach didn’t grant her any new abilities at all—it just left her emotionally scarred, since she had considered the roach a trusted friend. Her powers seem to come from somewhere else entirely, though she doesn’t question it too much.

Despite her smell and odd quirks, Rinna’s optimism and determination to be a hero make her endearing in her own strange way. She may not always understand what’s going on around her, but she’s always ready to help, always smiling, and always hoping that people will one day accept her for who she is: the uncrushable, unstoppable Roach Girl!
