They were facing me until they saw I had a camera. I really need a longer lens so I can photo things from further away. I hate it when people notice you're taking a photo and start posing. Also, though there was a barbed wire fence and a thick blackberry bramble between us, 10 meters is really closer than I'd like to be to a herd of elk with calves.
