It started so simply that, at first, neither of them believed it. The sky didn't fall to earth; stars didn't go off and the seas didn't dry out…
"Another pursuit of the blue hero ended late at night in the mountains. Her desperate and stupid gesture led to the meeting. The meeting of a lifetime.
The mission was to track down a satellite that night, so from the point of view of a random passerby, he was just sitting there and gazing into the stars.
Then he heard—
— "Ah... he's not here, either!! How stupid of me; now I'll never find him! And it's getting pretty late… —I know! I need to get in real danger! Then he will have to save me! He always does!"
His dark figure moved from the scantly lit spot and dissolved in the shadows. He watched a bruised pink female in a slightly ripped dress make her way to the ledge.
"He'll rescue me right away! Hey, don't be afraid Amy!" — She talked to herself rather loudly — "You can do it, girl!"
"She can't possibly…!" An instant thought crossed his mind while his eyes opened wider when that walking nonsense jumped off the cliff.
"Damn!"—that single word escaped his lips and he rushed to the border. Yet…
The dark hedgehog froze instantly as soon as a high pitched scream reached his ears.
"Sonic, help! I'm here! You can't possibly leave your one true love in danger, can you?! Soooooooonic! Come out, come out wherever you are!"
"How is that possible? She can't fly, can she?" he wondered while the induced Chaos Control warped his body to the bottom of the ravine.
His eyes weren't ready for the image that appeared before them. Amy Rose was hanging on the edge of the cliff with her hands.
The light dress was a poor cover for her body… especially for a viewer from below.
His head tilted to the left a bit without him noticing it.
In the meantime, the girl's voice became more hysterical than before.
"God, no! I'm slipping! Help, Sonic! Hurry, I'm really slipping! Please! Please!! SONIC!!! SONIC!!!"
With that name still ringing in the air the pink girl's fall started.
What was pure seconds to her felt like minutes to him...
In a rush of Chaos controlled space and time he jumped to her rescue without another thought. At times like that one, he'd act instantly — relying only on instincts.
A lucky catch left him standing on one knee at the bottom of the ravine with the prize in his hands.
"I knew you'd come for me…" Amy whispered softly with her eyes still closed.
Shadow couldn't do much about it when the hands of the rescued girl twined around his neck and… she imbibed from his lips. Something like lightning went though his body with his instincts going crazy. All his senses screamed, "Danger!" He almost pushed her away at the first second.
But then… it was warm… and soft… and… and no matter how odd and twisted that sounded to Shadow's mind, it was pleasant.
Amy was too consumed by the process to notice right away that she'd been kissing the wrong lips. Yes, she made similar mistakes once or twice before… but that kiss. It was the first one.
The girl felt that she finally succeeded. If not fulfilling her destiny, then she was closer to doing it like never before.
Neither of them were good at kissing, so their air ran out and they were forced to break contact.
She opened her eyes and inhaled at the same time.
Shadow's fairy tale was torn into pièces at the simplest remark: "Sonic, I… you are not Sonic!"
He feared she'd scream again and push away… but she just remained in his hands, not believing her eyes.
The stolen moment lasted longer than he had ever hoped it would.
Silence was his native element, so he did the only thing that he wanted to do at that moment.
"Yes, I'm not Sonic." His fingers closed in her quills.
The girl's lean body was clenched in a powerful grip of muscular arms.
Yet... he didn't want to do anything against her will.
Shadow simply wanted her to feel it. Feel that difference which her silly desires accidentaly led her into.
"Yes…"— She drawled while looking into the red depths of his eyes —"You're not…" "
