The Fox's rose bright and early the next morning. They didn't want to be late for the first boat ride out.



Remy and his family had one more sight to see before returning home. It was where the first shots of the Civil War were fired, then ignited throughout the South. Fort Sumpter.



As the boat reached the tiny island, they departed with the rest of the group.



Where they stood, used to be an enormous red-brick fortress, armed with hundreds of cannons, was now Ruins. The fortress had been severely damaged during the battle and reduced to rubble. Nevertheless, it resulted in a Confederate victory. But the war had only begun.



Remy looked in amazement at the large black cannons that were once used to defend the fortress and fight off the North. Now they stood quietly on display around the island.



When it was time to go, they returned to the boat and back to the mainland.



Remy and his parents spent the afternoon at the beach. They would spend the rest of the trip relaxing on the shore.



The next morning, they were up and ready for their flight home.



For Remy, Charleston was a very interesting experience. And the South had much to offer.
