Unfortunately certain instincts have to be trained out in Combats. They don't have the same parental skills programed into their DNA that Aesthetics or Labors do.

Mother ratites like cassowaries usually just lay the eggs in dads nest and leave. Dad pretty much does all the child rearing.

Beetles usually burry their eggs to keep them safe.

Mama Octopus stays with her eggs their entire gestation but usually dies right after because she doesn't eat the entire time, and dad is long dead before that because the sex actually gives the male dementia

And komodo dragons are worst of all because they are enthusiastic cannibals and will strait up eat any juveniles they find. They don't even make exceptions for their own. This is also why baby komodos usually climb the nearest tree they can find not long after they hatch. The adults are too hefty to climb trees.
