A few years went by since Judy Hopps became the first bunny police detective in Zootopia’s storied history. Her partner, Nick Wilde, soon became her equal in their careers. They were inseparable, both on and off the clock, eventually moving in, and soon after, falling in love.
Interspecies couples weren’t too uncommon in Zootopia. The most common trait of said couples forming was size similarities. Mice and Elephants for instance didn’t get together, virtually ever. But a lion and a tiger, or a wolf and a deer, or even a bunny and a fox, can and did happen.
Dating started basic. Going out to eat, going on long walks through tundra town at night, going to see movies, at the theater or at home, or just spending late hours in the forensics lab, trading quips until they started kissing. This ended up graduating to the next logical step. No protection was ever used. Why would it need to be. A fox and a bunny can’t and never have conceived children before. It’s a blessing a a curse for a good number of interspecies couples.
But then, it did happen.
Just thought it was a stomach bug until she missed a certain time of the month. That’s when she decided to just get her uncertainty out of the way. But she never expected a positive result from the test. She went through the entire box over the week, and they all confirmed she was pregnant. Judy went to 3 different doctors just to be sure. It was a mathematical certainty.
Judy Hopps had gotten pregnant from a fox.
Telling Nick was hard enough. It warned her heart that he never considered even a second that she’d cheated on him despite the odd circumstances. Telling Bogo was easy, but he didn’t even believe her at first. Getting shown the actual documents made him spit his coffee out. Telling her parents was the hardest, and they did freak out a little, but it only took a few days for them to be excited about having hybrid grandkids.
Before Judy knew it, she began to show, her stomach bulging in a way she couldn’t simply suck in. Over the month couple months, her shirts and pants began to feel tighter, said shirt eventually unable to cover the bunny’s bump fully.
Still doing her job, behind the scenes and at inactive crime scenes at least, Judy hardly bothered to hide her belly at this point, letting it stick out freely as she moved about, encumbered by the three heavy little miracles which stirred and wiggled inside her. When this happened all she could do was look down to the belly which now blocked her view of her feet, wondering just what exactly her body was cooking up in there, as scientists continue to figure out why…..
