So, Johnny started off wearing the "Work outfit", when I first created the character as an offshoot of my human OC/self-insert, and that color-scheme just stuck. I feel his more earthy tones as a Tanuki fit with the more autumn-based shades of orange and the neutral gray. The blue was added as a natural contrast and compliment to the orange, and it kinda matches his eyes.
