For as long as she can remember, Oblivia has been doing a great deal of research into the nature and existence of the shadows; cataloging her various findings and gaining further information due to the investigative efforts by those who serve her. While much of Oblivia’s information has been documented over many years by her, she is sometimes drip-fed information gathered by her Apostles; unfortunately, due to the dangerous nature of the monsters, not much can be gleaned prior to the creatures’ required deaths. However, every so often, Oblivia has been given a great deal of information that helps to vastly expand the general knowledge and understanding of the shadows. Outside of a few past discoveries that helped create the bedrock for much of the general knowledge, no discovery was greater than when Orion delivered the newly reformed Ava to the goddess of death.
Once tainted by inner turmoil and suffocating darkness (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/54201642/ ), Ava managed to break through it and reclaim her life thanks to the kindness that Orion offered her; changing her back (mostly) to what she once looked like. Upon Orion showcasing Ava to Oblivia, the goddess managed to gain not just valuable information in terms of how higher-ranking shadows come to be, but also gained an assistant in the ghastly maid.
From the sheer power that Ava wields, Oblivia was able to correctly identify the former maid as a kindred class of shadow, in that she still resembled who she once was and maintains all of her faculties and the ability to properly communicate and recall moments from her past lives. Gaining further information from Ava’s soul allowed Oblivia to see firsthand how much suffering she endured and how much she resisted it, much to her surprise. As Ava has a great deal of power, Oblivia took to training the maid in how to properly and expertly utilize and control it; and although Ava had no desire to fight, she can still provide assistance if need be. Even though Ava is not an Apostle, she was provided a pseudo soul shroud to help keep the power of her soul hidden and still provides similar protection like the Apostles.
Acting as Oblivia’s personal assistant, Ava is responsible for helping the goddess with various endeavors such as soul collecting, information archiving, and acting as a messenger for the Apostles if the goddess is unable to do so. However, unlike her past life, Ava is treated with much more respect, kindness, and dignity; something that gives her an undeniable warmth and desire to continue doing what she does. Ava is decidedly skilled at her job, so much so that it relieves Oblivia of much of the weight on her shoulders when it comes to her own deific responsibilities. As for the powers Ava possesses, she has a great deal of them to utilize.
Sparra Type: Ava utilizes Nightmare Sparra, a combination of darkness, space, illusion, and moon based sparra. This sparra allows Ava to drastically morph and distort objects and areas into whatever form she sees fit as a way to unnerve, frighten or disturb those she desires. She is able to twist enclosed areas into nightmarish liminal spaces and create distortions that are eerie and dreamlike. Examples include: making never ending abysses, corridors that twist or stop without warning, staircases that go up endlessly, and other dreamlike scenarios. Furthermore, she can weaponize her sparra into an energy that resembles eerie black and white flames that cannot burn but chill and damage those who come into contact with them almost as if its cursing someone’s very flesh. The feeling is more akin to a stabbing sensation accompanied by a feeling of steady decay.
Shadow Physiology: Due to once being a shadow, Ava has “natural” abilities that her true shadow self once possessed and is able to utilize them in tandem to her sparra based powers. Firstly, Ava has various ghostly abilities similar to Megumi, yet these do not consume sparra, and as such can be used much more freely. Ava has the ability to turn her body both intangible and invisible, allowing her to hide her presence and faze through solid and energy-based objects. Ava has managed to combine certain traits, allowing her to appear as a ball of ghostly flame and faze through objects with little effort as a form of quick transportation. Furthermore, Ava has an inherent healing factor that comes with being a shadow in that she cannot be killed via conventional weaponry; as only spiritual or mystical weapons and means will be able to effectively harm or kill her.
Physical Attributes: Ava has a good deal of strength and speed at her disposal, enough to put her on par with many of the more gifted Apostles. This gives her the ability to provide support to the Apostles as well as become a reliable source of back up should danger make itself known. Accompanied by a good deal of durability, Ava can truly act as a capable combatant should she ever decide to take up a blade and fight as a warrior.
As Ava has truly been freed from the shackles of BOTH of her past lives, she desires to be helpful and embraced by those around her, instead of unfairly scorned and treated with perpetual vitriol. As she is now amongst those who possess power and wish to protect others, she will undoubtedly find the light and experiences that will both nurture and sooth her. This was a truly amazing pic done once again by the awesome
nim-nim showcasing Ava in her more “casual” attire, even if it appears more of a funerary wedding esque dress. I hope you all enjoy!
*TRIVIA: Despite being given a messenger like role, Ava does not perform the same recruitment duties that Orion does, due to him being Oblivia’s true envoy. Instead, Ava is responsible for acting as a messenger to those who have already committed themselves to Oblivia. Interestingly enough, Ava frequently uses the title of “lord” or “lady” when addressing the Apostles.
