I started too look around, to see if there's any way for me to escape.
Meanwhile Dr. K said, "I'm sorry that I have to put you into this test chamber. You see, I don't exactly have, living quarters within the facility, food would be served punctually later, and if you need to go to the bathroom, you lift up those tiles over there."
Dr. K pointed towards what appears to be crooked floor tiles on the floor.
"What are you planning on doing?" I then asked.
"It's quite simple, all I have to do is, put your brother in a test chamber and perform the deharmonification process, the treatment is slow but, in the long run he will live, not to mention being cured of the the pale virus." Dr. K answered.
So he wants to administer some kind of medicine to my brother that would make him immune to the virus but also getting rid of his human form In the process.
"Do you really think I'm just going to lay around here and let you do that to my brother?" I said while I was struggling to get up.
"That's why I administered a long lasting sleep gas into your system, that would make your body sluggish when you wake up, though how long your body would stay sluggish I cannot determined. Mainly because every time it's administered how long the side effects lasts is inconsistent. Sometimes it lasts to a minute or a full hour." Dr. K answered.
I continue to struggle getting up, my arms and legs feel like spaghetti.
Dr. K then continue to talk, "Your stubbornness is admirable, though that behavior is what got you into this mess in the first place, and I'm honestly quite disappointed that you don't have an open mind about this. After all, you do have a scientific mind, l expected More from you."
"Oh, thank you for telling me something that I already know, Captain obvious." I said sarcastically.
I continue to try to get up, on my feet but to no avail I can't push myself up.
"I am sorry that it has to be this way Andrew, but there's no other choice, the shelters already have too much on their plate, thanks to extraterrestrial related activities, not to mention raiders. The last thing we need is a second pandemic." Dr. K explained.
When Dr. K mentioned about raiders, I got curious.
"Raiders? There are people on the outside rating other shelters, why? Aren't the shelters supposed to be a lifeline for humanity?" I asked.
"There are those, who think life is but a joke, and would love nothing more than to watch the world burn. Personally, I have a hunch that this group was some are so-called special employees before the riot." Dr. K answered.
"Wait a minute... You told me a few minutes ago that you were the sole survivor of the riot." I then Said.
"Indeed I did, though, during that time, the equipment in this facility was either stolen or destroyed during the riot. But, that's just a personal hunch. These raiders might be a separate group that emerged from a shelter." Dr. K explained.
I was about to say something but then, Dr. K started to walk towards a door right behind him.
But before he left, Dr. K then said, "I know that you're upset about the outcome that you are given but, Escaping this place with your brother, won't bring your mother back."
Dr. K then then left without another word.
But, as he left the room, I was finally able to push myself off the ground and stand on my two feet.
I then looked around to see if there's any way to move forward. Then, I saw what appear to be a red button on the floor.
I decided to go step on the button and see what happens...
... But nothing appeared to happen...
Determined to get out, I pressed the button again, and again, and again, and again.
Eventually, I pressed the button so many times that my feet started to become numb.
Not willing to give up, I then tried to think of any other way to move forward.
At first I tried to use teleportation. Unfortunately, I was too tired to use psychokinesis.
But then, I noticed that there was a Roomba on the other side of the safety glass of the test chamber.
The small autonomous vacuum cleaner was on standby mode, as I continue to look through your safety glass.
I then saw another button that looked exactly like the one in the test chamber.
I was then able to make a connection that a locking system within the test chamber is like a puzzle from Zelda.
It's one of those puzzles where you have to push down two pressure plates at the same time to open the door.
The question is, how do I press the button on the other side of the safety glass?
Then I started to wonder, what if the weight of the Roomba will be enough to activate the button?
Of course, Getting the the small robotic vacuum activated will be difficult since I can't even reach The on button on top of it.
Annoyed. I try to think of how to turn it on while tamping my fingers against the glass.
Apparently this model in particular is sound activated because I then saw the Roomba turn on.
When it was done booning up, I then noticed that the Roomba was trying to copy my movement, I guess this model was designed for autonomous intelligence experiments?
After some trial and error, I was able to get the room at set right on top of the button at the same time that I was.
And with a satisfying click of the buttons along with hey, 8-bit like jingle, indicating that the puzzle was completed.
The locked door, that had a light indicator, switch from red to green confirming that it was unlocked.
I continued into the next room and it appeared that the tiny little Roomba, followed me to the corresponding hallway on the other side of the safety glass.
This room was quite large compared to the other test chamber, though it appeared to be filled to the brim with a new type of latex Beast.
This subspecies in particular appears to be a mimicking some insect-like creatures, though right now they're in their larvae stage of life since they're trapped inside some translucent and bioluminescent eggs that are glowing green.
As I walked around the big chest chamber, I noticed that there were some compartments leaking out black and white goo.
Knowing very well what the smell of White latex can do to me, I put on the custom-made gas. mask.
Both black and white latex slowly spread onto the floor, but as they were doing so something very fascinating happen.
It appears that that both forms of latex are making their own independent environment.
The white latex environment appear to resemble an underwater ecosystem, filled with Coral, reefs and sponges.
Meanwhile, the Black latex environment appear to be some kind of Crystal swamp.
Crystal swamp in particular caught my interest. I don't exactly know why but it felt familiar, like seeing a long lost friend...
As I walked closer towards the black latex environment, I know this very interesting things.
There were some very small, dark latex Cubs that appear to be floating in mid-air, though this is a different subspecies of dark latex creatures.
Their so-called "masks" appear to be a orb of some kind, a orb that was glowing bright blue...
As I continue to walk through the small patch of The dark latex environment, a purple tinted mist that's embedded in the environment felt very calming.
I was memorized by the puddles on the floor it's like a reflection of starlight.
As beautiful as this was, I need to move on from this fantastical looking environment, after all my brother Michael needs me.
Not to mention it's the only way to redeem myself from the bad things that I did to my own mother, is to escape from this place.
But before I walked into the next room, I looked back at the Black latex environment, to my surprise, there was a humanoid figure staring back, it resembled some kind of furry version of the mythical creature the windigo.
The Wendigo looked at me with a profound sense of curiosity, It was like it wanted to say hello.
I still don't know why to this day why I did that, but I thought it was a good idea to hug it, into my surprise it hugged back.
When I was done I continue on into the next room.
The next room, It was filled to the brim with orange gas coming out of air tanks.
Like the the blue gas from many rooms ago, this orange cat smelled absolutely awful.
Fortunately, the smell was a lot more bearable, thanks to the gas mask that I was wearing.
Of course had to figure out how to guide the little Roomba to the button, so I'll be able to progress forward.
When the final door was unlocked, I walked into the next room which was a automatic decontamination chamber.
The sound of the shower head within the chamber was calming.
There was even a conveniently placed towel right next to me.
Once I dried off, I walked outside of the testing area, the Roomba made a happy little tune when it was able to get close to me.
It was like the machine wants to be, petted.
I gave it a nice pat, on where I think might be its head?
I then tried to proceed to move on to go get to Michael, but then something caught my eye.
It was a piece of paper and it had findings related to the latex Beasts, I don't remember exactly what it says but it was definitely something interesting.
Apparently S.I.I. stands for Super Intelligent Individuals, a rare breed of latex beasts that gained intelligents that is far beyond the intelligents of a human.
I know I'm not that smart, but then again it did make sense why I was able to learn mathematics so quickly. Not to mention that AI in the greenhouse calling me with that designation.
Unfortunately, those unique specimens are to be incinerated as a typical protocol.
The next page showed into detail about what exactly is a latex Beast.
Apparently all latex beasts myself included, are type of single-celled organism on a complex level, The idea of being a creature that's can easily could be compared to a large bacteria didn't sit well with me though.
It felt like an insult that basically called me a brainless creature.
But as I continue to read, I learned an interesting piece of my text physiology that's similar to slime molds.
Apparently the so-called blood/goo of latex Beast is actually the RNA of the creature, the cell walls that made out of is capable of mimicking complex functions such as a brain or skeletal structures.
As I continued reading, it gave me an explanation of the so-called transferring process, apparently latex beasts have conscious control over enzymes that break down the the structure of the cells of complex creatures and rebuilds them.
This access biomass is then converted into a copy of whatever latex bees assimilated said creature as a secondary means of reproduction, the other option is the Latex Beast incorporating The DNA of the creature into its own biology, making it stronger in the process.
When I was done reading it was slightly comforting for me that I don't completely disobey the laws of biology, I'm just a very odd exception, I still don't like the fact that I'm literally an oversized amoeba.
I was about to walk out but before I did that I saw that there was a tape recorder, It already had a cassette tape within it.
I wanted to play it but, I had more important things to do, but I can listen to it later with Michael once I make sure that he's not going to be within the crunches of Dr. K.
I then started to think about what Dr. K said. What if Michael really was a potential carrier... No, that's not true Michael is a healthy 12-Year-Old human He's not a carrier, and he definitely doesn't need treatment that will turn him into a f###ing furry.
He's all I have left, and besides he doesn't even have pale skin, not to mention he's definitely able to run quite well even when a flipping latex snow leopard was chasing him.
If he was a carrier, then he won't be able to run without needing to catch his breath after 2 seconds, not to mention he won't be able to think clearly due to the lack of oxygen in his brain.
But he doesn't even have a single sign of the illness, and since it's been 5 years when we were in cryo sleep, the virus should have killed him already, but it didn't, because he didn't even had it in the first place.
As I walked out of the laboratory the cold crisp air of the outside along with the full moon was comforting, no discomfort was shortly interrupted by what sounded like... gunfire in the distance?
It was very odd, It's like the riot was still happening.
Eventually and fortunately, Michael seemed to be exactly where I left him.
I was able to catch him up on what I've learned, not just about Dr. K, but a potential spot for us to go to once we escape Thunder Science.
The shelters is where the rest of humanity is, all we have to do is find one and hopefully, we'll be able to reintegrate into society, even though we will become orphans... It's a whole lot better than being stuck here.
Predictably, when I was done telling Michael what I learned, he didn't like the fact that Dr. K resembles a furry.
He also didn't like the fact that Dr. K thinks that he's a potential carrier of the pale virus.
Michael then asked about where Dr. K is Right now.
I then checked the door, by smelling it, to see if Dr K was behind there again, and he was.
Dr. K was waiting for Michael at the other side of the well maintained door before he knocked me out with sleep gas.
"Is he there?" Michael asked.
"Yes, yes he is." I answered.
My brother and I then tried to figure out how we get past Dr. K.
We know we can't both just simply walk, for all we know Dr. K might have a backup plan.
I can't use my psychokinetic moves because of the gas Dr. K administered, the compound is not fully out of my system yet.
Michael then started to pace around, he was just as stumped as I was, on how to get past what is practically an adult.
As I was continuing to think about how we get past Dr. K Michael found something.
"Hey Andrew, take a look at this." Michael sad while doing a gesture towards the power box.
I then walked over and noticed that the power box was unlocked.
The cables and switches inside, are available for anyone to access and tamper with.
As I continue to look at it, this gave me a Idea.
"Michael!" I said out of enthusiasm, " I think you just solved our problem."
"How?" Michael then asked confused.
"This power box controls the lights inside of that room, and if I recall correctly, if a light were constantly flickering it can disorientate people, they won't have any time for their eyes to adjust to constantly changing lighting making them dizzy in the process." I explained with enthusiasm.
"So what you're basically saying is if we give Dr. K epilepsy we can able to get past him?" Michael then asked.
"Exactly!" I answered.
Michael then smiled and said "Then what are we waiting for?"
"Good question." I answered.
Michael and I then proceed to mess with the switches and wires within the power box, as a result, the lights in the next room, started to go crazy. It looks like a disco party, but the lights had too much caffeine.
Eventually, we had to stop messing with the electronics.
Once we are done we heard Dr. K bumping against a table, he appears be having trouble keeping himself up.
Which was a good chance for both me and Michael, to walk in and make him trip over by giving him a good bonk on the head with my loose metal pipe.
As I've looked down at Dr. Kane, I heard him mumbled under his own breath, "I can't believe, I fell for that, again."
What he said was kind of interesting and implies that our predecessors Puro and Colin use the similar tactic.
Michael and I were about to move on to next door, but then I've noticed something interesting next to Dr. K.
It was some kind of electrical blade like object, it seems to be fully charged too.
As I picked it up, I noticed that there was a poster that says "Protect the future of mankind, joined the T.S.C.S.T. (Thunder Science Company Security Team) today!" The poster appears to Have a picture of the security team holding in unique pieces of equipment.
I then looked at the blade that I was holding, it was identical to a blade that's being held by Security team member in the poster, I guess this weapon was made to be effective against a latex beast?
I decided to give the weapon to Michael.
I already have my psychokinesis to defend myself with, Michael on the other hand, barely has anything other than his recent ability to use against the latex beasts.
I then looked back at Dr. K, he seems to be tired and worried... now that I think about it, he is just a man who just simply wants to make sure that humanity doesn't go extinct.
Of course, I was too stubborn to get out of thunder science at the time that didn't even thought about this.
Michael and I then went into the next room and down a staircase.
End of part 13.
Meanwhile Dr. K said, "I'm sorry that I have to put you into this test chamber. You see, I don't exactly have, living quarters within the facility, food would be served punctually later, and if you need to go to the bathroom, you lift up those tiles over there."
