Though Autumn is gorgeous, Winter is serene, and Spring is vibrant, there is just something special about summer.
Even for the fluffiest of furs. Dawn never particularly loved the daytime of summer. As someone with longer fur the heat and humidity was only multiplied by long, thick fur.
But as a mother, the summer seasons weren't exclusively about her. The kids no longer had studies to worry about, and summer break meant her hands were full most days. Sure, they'd often run off through the mirror on fantasy adventures of their own, but every kid enjoys a few summer beach days now-and-again. Dawn always begrudgingly endured the heat with ample amount of sunblock and shading umbrellas.
Though the highlight of the day was always watching her kids having fun in the sun, sand, and surf, a close second was always the sweet frozen reward she would allow herself to indulge in at the end of the day as temperatures became more bearable. It was summer vacation, and she wasn't about to waste any energy questioning how three scoops were able to defy physics like that -- just hurry up and eat them before they melt and fall off.
Though her daytime beach trips were always about her kids, once evening began, the shoreline sunset was always about her own indulgences. Dawn has grown increasingly more confident in her own fur as the woman she is (even if she is sweating buckets under all that fur). And it's not just the sweets either... She's absolutely noticed the wandering eyes paying attention to her heart-tattoo as she strolls. Maybe she even intentionally exaggerated her stride to draw a few extra eyes. Maybe she could lure an attractive beachgoer into striking up a conversation~
No. No maybes this time. Dawn knows she's still got it. This isn't a question of "if" any more. It's a question of "when". While her kids start to unwind and pack, Dawn is going to have a little beach fun of her own...
Care to try your luck being the one to join her?~
Pay no mind to the mental image of her kids (well, early-teens twins and an early gradeschool daughter) waiting off to the side bored while their mom tries to flirt with strangers on the beach -- YUCK!
This wasn't the big Stormy and Aurora story. I forgot about some important plans I had for the holiday weekend. I shuffled around order to put this one first since I only had about an hour to write the story this time. Want to save the bigger one for when I have more time to sit down and script something properly.
Admittedly, summer and spring are my least favorite seasons. I don't enjoy heat personally. But even I gotta admit, ice cream after a hot summer day just hits different.
Thank you to

Nice to see Catherine's still kicking! I miss seeing her around the place. But her art is as gorgeous as ever and she did a fantastic job with dawn. I love how she does eyes, and the sort of glow they have. It's a very pretty look for Dawn here. The ice cream does look really good, too. No idea how it stays balanced like that, either. Must be some trade secret! But it tastes so good, especially on a hot summer day. Or evening. Speaking of, it's really nice to know that Dawn is able to find some pleasure in the season, even if it's not her favorite. I'm a summer bunny to the core, so I adore everything about it. Mostly. Much above 80 is too hot even for me! But I can definitely understand how it would be less fun for those with long, thick fur.
Love the pose and that confident stride. Watching Dawn get her strut back has been a lot of fun, and I'm sure she'll turn every head on the beach!

Hehe. Warm and cozy is my absolute favorite vibe personally. Hard to bundle up in fuzzy blankets with warm drinks while it’s 90+ here. Maybe im just bitter about how average summer temp is close to 90 here and average winter is only about 30.
Though a cold treat on a hot day is always appreciated — even if a little witchcraft is required to keep it balanced. I’m definitely looking forward to bringing more of Dawn’s escapades to life (and introduce more pieces of the other characters in my arsenal).
Unfortunately I’m not entirely sure if Catherine’s still working on stuff. This is older artwork from about a year ago.
