I got you. I got you, Tawny, i got you!
Well, I wanted to paint a semi-realistic cheetah in the savannah once again. Yeeeah, once again. Although this time it was just supposed to be a cuddling scene with Jua and Pumuzi, a scene closely based on an image I found on Instagram lately.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to recreate the subject more faithfully because I simply couldn't manage to place the lines the right way to show the cheetah lying in Pum's arms. That's why I placed Tawny's head quite roughly between the paws of the now semi-anthropomorphic fellow. Aside from a few mistakes, it resembles a scene from the book (https://www.gephleckt.de/) where Pum holds the stubborn feline in his arms.
This piece, like the last one, is more or less a technical exercise to get along with the wet-on-wet technique. And I think this one is the first where it actually worked out, especially as seen in the background, as for the first time the paper was evenly moistened with the right amount of water. The cheetah on the left also has beautiful gradients here and there and some deliberately "blurred" dots to indicate the fur structure, shadows, and contours. This wasn't quite as well achieved with the female cheetah though.
In retrospect, the cheetahs would have needed a detailed intermediate layer to bring out the fur a little more, but I didn't have the courage anymore. Overall, I really like this piece despite the mistakes in the sketch. I like the cheetah's paw, some parts of the faces are exactly as I wanted them, and the colors are starting to resemble watercolors, while the outlines could be less obtrusive this time.
It's getting better :)
