After a long time of work, I’m finally releasing this document to the public, where I explain the lore of the Red Eye Corporation. But that’s not all: here, I also go over various anecdotes and processes behind the creation of said lore and its characters.
In the first half, I summarize the story of the Red Eye Corporation. I cut out many details to condense everything into as few pages as possible and avoid turning it into a massive and tedious textbook. I focused only on the most important parts to know. Then, the second half talks about the lore of an important character—who she is and where she comes from. I recount past events and abandoned projects related to her. These are much more personal anecdotes, but still valid.
The reason it took me so long… I usually rely on a trusted person, a relative of mine, who helps me with grammar corrections in detail. I gave them my text for proofreading, but I didn’t get a response for two straight weeks. When I asked this person how things were going and how far along they were… she was more asleep than awake, physically exhausted, and told me she hadn’t even opened the document I sent. She had been working and studying like crazy for two weeks straight. I’ve told her many times to take it easy and rest every now and then, but she’s a workaholic (or Stakhanovist, as we say in Italy). She’s always working. And when she’s not working, she’s looking for work—offering car rides to friends and family—then coming home at 10:00 PM just to sleep.
So, due to that situation, I used ChatGPT as a ghostwriter to act as my grammar teacher and help me deliver quality content. Just to be clear: I don’t use ChatGPT for the creative part of my stories. I write everything personally, as any self-respecting author should. I only use the robot for grammar corrections and English translations, due to my serious limitations with written English grammar. I could hire a real ghostwriter, pay an actual person, but… I’m poor. And Italian. I live in the most taxed and indebted country in the world, where even now the state bleeds us dry with absurd taxes. (Readers from overseas, don’t believe me? Look up “Italian taxes”, “Partita IVA”, “Canone RAI”, and “Shadow tax”, then you tell me).
Also, I’m not a fan of the ghostwriter idea. If I write poorly and then pay someone to fix my mistakes, but still take all the credit... it just doesn’t sit right with me. I’d rather have a co-writer, someone who actively takes part in the work, and to whom I give some freedom to make suggestions and narrative edits. I hope that’s clear.
To conclude, before letting you dive into the reading: this story is rated General Audience. There are some basic references to “dead bodies”, “death”, “experiments on human test subjects”, and content that could be considered horror—but nothing explicit. I’ve taken great care not to include anything disturbing. It won’t always be like this. I’m a horror and dark fantasy writer after all, and many of my future stories will be more explicit and carry more mature ratings. But since this document is about explanations and lore, I want it to be accessible to everyone without rating issues.
In the document, there are references to physical transformations, fusions between living beings, mascot costumes, and artificial structures—but this is not a TF-themed fan fiction. However, there are some “ideas” that might interest authors who are into that subject.
Thanks for your attention and have a good read.
