Today was just a normal day for mostly everyone. Everyone except for a few couples hanging around the park. One woman in particular is looking forward to do the same later, but right now she’s on a mission to find the right gift for her boyfriend.
Eisis, a 25 year old woman, with curly blonde hair, a cute face, green eyes, and overall just a nice person that everyone in town liked. The people would wave to her with a smile, she waved back with the same positive aura she tend to emit. Walking around the store is her usual everyday thing, but today she was looking for a right gift to her boyfriend Todd. They’ve been together for a long while ever since their junior year of high school, growing closer together.
Going through the store, she passed by merchants outside trying to sell her in on a gift for Todd. Though some were intriguing, none of them caught her interest as Todd is into the more weird aspects than just normal everyday trinkets. One merchant though caught her attention as she walked up to its store, the merchant completely hidden in a dark gray robe hiding their face in darkness. It slowly raised its head up as Eisis looked through what the merchant was selling.
Every item the merchant was selling had something to do with a mythical creature or some semblance to it. One looked like a miniature figure of a Minotaur with its little hedge maze, a gryphon with its wings spread out, a cockatrice with a snake body and a chicken head, a whole bunch of other creatures. These will definitely get Todd’s attention, one in particular Eisis would think her boyfriend would really love.
It was a little statue of what looked like a mixture of different creatures for each part, almost like a chimera of some sorts. Its pose was like it was trying to breathe fire out like a dragon, but no flames were made on it. She marveled at the little statue and picked it up, feeling the smooth marble stone and the details of it.
“I see you’ve got good eye, young Miss.” The merchant said, its voice sounding quite deep yet soothing to the ears. “That is a statue depicting the God of Chaos himself, though times and rewrites of the stories have changed it to where no one really knows what the God of Chaos really looks like. This one is the best guess that I could think of.”
“Really? It looks so real, like it might come alive at any moment.” Eisis said with amusement in her eyes. “This would make a perfect gift for my boyfriend. How much does this one cost?” The merchant chuckled to himself as if amused.
“Usually my prices are fair depending on how much work has been done on each item. For that statue though, you can have it free of charge. It’s been a very slow day, and I’m feeling very generous today. Make sure you place it somewhere to stand, I’m sure your boyfriend would like a surprise or two.” The merchant said.
“Thank you so much! He’s into the weirdness like that, so I’m sure he’ll love it.” Eisis said before she turned and head to her boyfriend’s place.
“No, thank you, Eisis. Let’s hope your boyfriend wouldn’t mind a little pizzazz when the special surprise starts.” The merchant chuckled to itself.
It wasn’t long before she reached her boyfriend’s home, just a couple blocks away from her own house. The home had some old style furniture, wooden tables and chairs, and a neat fireplace nearby for cold days and winters. Right in the shelf near the hall were a bunch of figurines and little statues of other mythical creatures. From Bigfoot, to the Loch Ness monster, anything from myths and legends of the creatures with one empty spot for her statue.
Gently placing the statue in place, she felt accomplished as it fit in with the other mythical creatures beside it. She looked around, noticing that it’s been quiet since she got home with no one else aside from her.
“Huh, guess Todd is out again. No doubt he’s trying to find whatever creature he’s hm got his eyes on right now. I’ll just wait for him and show him the surprise gift I got him.”
Eisis then just hummed herself a little tune, trying to pass the time just to surprise her boyfriend. She took another look at the mythical creatures on the shelf including her own gift, she stopped and squinted her eyes before rubbing them. It might just be her imagination or spending too much time to Todd’s creature theories, but she swore the statue she put moved a little.
Curiously, she went over to it and slightly shifted it back and forth a little, trying to see if her eyes are playing tricks on her. Nothing seems to be out of place, so she started moving the statue’s head for a bit. That’s when the head moved up a bit and a clicking noise was made.
The statue’s eyes seemed to glow a mischievous yellow before a purple like gas sprayed out of its mouth. Eisis, caught by surprise, breathed in the purple gas and coughed repeatedly. She tried to fan the gas away, but it’s like the gas has a mind of its own and instead surrounding her.
“*cough* *cough* *wheeze* What is that stuff anyway!?” Eisis yelled out loud. The purple gas soon entered her body, all of them coalescing until no purple gas is left. This, however, caused more pain course all over Eisis’ body, about to witness her startling change into something that doesn’t make sense.
Her torso was first to change, elongating and thinning out into a noodle like body shape, her arms and legs adjusting to her new form. Yet, she also felt a warmth sensation, brown fur sprouted all over her torso until she had a body that looked liked a horse. She anticipated she would become a full blown horse, but the rest of her limbs tell her otherwise.
Green scales formed on her right leg while also shifting into something like a lizard. Tan fur sprouted on her left leg and becoming digitigrade, her toes fusing together into one brown hardened hoof. Right where a horse tail should be is a red, scaly snake tail instead with a white tuft at the end, strangely she can feel it as though it’s much more flexible than it seems.
“Wh-What’s happening to me!? What am I even becoming?!?” Eisis yelled, coughing harshly with each cough causing her voice to deepen into a male voice.
She, or perhaps he now, groaned in pain, two protrusions stick out from behind his long back, all fleshy before they changed. The right protrusion spreads out in a purple color as a thin membrane filled in underneath the protrusion. The left protrusion had blue feathers sprouting, prickly until the whole protrusion is covered in feathers. He now has a bat wing and a bluebird wing, he strained to look at them.
“How am I suppose to fly with these things!? They don’t even match!”
Both of his arms twitched and cracked, forcibly reshaping into their new forms. Pale, yellow fur grew around his right hand, two of his fingers fusing and becoming more rounded out with a paw underneath. Black claws sheath underneath them, the fur stopping as it reached the brown fur, now having a of a lion The brown fur extended down to his left arm, stopping before the wrist as it changed from fur to something more hardened. Again his two fingers fused into three as they became sharper and yellow, becoming a talon of a brown eagle.
Then with a forceful pulse, his neck stretched and extended, gray fur growing as his ears moved to the top of his head and became a bit more floppy. A black mane grew from his back head all the way down just where the gray fur ends. Two more protrusions grow from atop his head, one becoming an ivory color while the other becoming turquoise. A deer antler on the right and a goat horn on the left, though he’s certain that no goat horn looks like this.
A burning sensation filled his eyes as he kept blinking, his eyes now yellow with red pupils. His nose and mouth melded together into a snout, the pain growing on his head which caused him to open his mouth in a silent scream. His tongue thinned out and split at the end, giving him a fork tongue which he can hiss easily if he tried. One of his tooth ached a lot, becoming sharper and growing out into one fang that hangs out from his new mouth. Finally a white goat beard grew underneath his chin, at least he thinks that’s where his chin is anyway.
Eisis breathed heavily, slowly lifting himself up once the pain subsided and he looked down at himself. He stared at the mismatched limbs and body, he now looked exactly like the statue if it were colored. He opened both of his hands, flexing them as he stared it disbelief.
“No…this can’t be me! I’m some sort of monster!” He said, clutching his pony head. “What would Todd think of me!?”
He backed up a little, though with his new feet, he quickly stumbled and crashed onto the shelf, knocking some of the statues off and breaking them. He groaned and lifted his head up, before noticing a slight movement onto some of the statues. To his horror, the small statues then started moving and coming to life, he panicked and tried to gather them back onto the shelf to no avail.
That’s when the sound of a door opening caught him in his tracks and he looked. Standing right at the door is a human man with spiky black hair, a backpack on him, and some rolled up papers and writing material in one hand. He stared at the sight with shock and surprise, not only at the statues moving on their own, but at the creature that Eisis had transformed into. They both stared at each other for what felt like an eternity, Eisis looked down at himself and realized he was completely naked.
“Aaaagh!”
He screamed and covered his chest even though he didn’t have anything to show. “Don’t look at me! I’m a monster!”
Before Todd could react, Eisis quickly scrambled past him in a rush, his new body feeling noodles and weird. The last thing that Todd saw was his tail flicking past him.
A couple days passed and news of this new creature and Eisis’ disappearance soon spread around town. On one side, Eisis’ parents are looking for their daughter, missing posters of Eisis’ human self as a search party are trying to look for her. On the other spectrum, a few policemen on guard with their police cars and weapons ready are guarding a blocked off site so that no one gets close. Beyond the site, scientists, theorists, and government agencies are scouring the area, they describe it all in one word: Chaos.
Some parts of the grass are very smooth that you can slip by accident, some gras are very pointy and spiky. The water flows unnaturally, fishes that swim in it would jump off and just floated around flapping their fins as if they’re wings. Animals around the area also acted weird, defying logic and even standing on their hind legs or doing dances that they couldn’t do. The main focus however was the tall, ominous spiky ice tower, the place that Eisis had accidentally created when trying to hide himself.
Right at the top through an open window, the inside showing the icy interior of the building. Eisis laid on the cold bed, his body slumped underneath a large blanket as he sobbed. He didn’t mean to make everything so chaotic, his new powers caught him off guard and he didn’t know how to fully control it. He sniffed and looked over at his phone, many messages and missed calls from his parents and friends hoping they could reach Eisis. He didn’t want to face them like this, how’s he supposed to explain them all when even he couldn’t believe this himself.
His ear twitched, he heard a familiar voice yelling out Eisis’ name. He moved over near the open window and looked down, despite the tall height, he can see his boyfriend Todd right at the entrance of the tower. Somehow, he was able to not only avoid detection from security, but also found a way to bypass their defenses.
“GO AWAY!” Eisis yelled out loud, his voice becoming more angry and threatening, but also with a bit of desperation. “I’M HIDEOUS!!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!”
Todd didn’t leave though, he stood there and looked up at the tall tower. Whether intentional or not, Eisis had placed various things which can send messages over to his room.
“Eisis? Is that you?” Todd asked, the words transferring over the icy walls. “Please, let me see you. You’re not a monster to me, will you allow me to come in?”
Eisis pondered for a bit, tapping his paw and talon together nervously. He paced around the room for a bit, before making the decision to let Todd in, maybe he still has an interest in the creature Eisis had become.
“…Wait right there, I’m coming down.” He said, now in a less menacing voice.
Eisis walked out of the room and stumbled upon a problem already, he was trapped up here. There were some stairs that lead up all the way at the bottom, but the rest was incomplete or not even built at all. In fact, he recalled never leaving that room since then, food and drinks have been served to him through his powers. He fiddled on how to get down, placing his right paw onto the wall and thinking of how to get down safely without causing something to go wrong. That’s his powers activated again, creating a bunch of empty portraits onto the wall, each one having a different art style than the previous one.
A crazy idea popped in his head. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before jumping right onto the nearest painting. His body morphed and entered inside the painting, he looked down at himself and saw that he was in the same art style as the painting itself. He then walked off to the next painting, changing to that art style until he reached the bottom floor. Eisis then pulsed out of the painting itself and walked up to the large doors before stopping himself, he’s still naked.
He frantically looked around before spotting a lone towel hanging on the nearby rooms. He wrapped it around his long body and checked on the nearby reflective walls and fixed his beard and mane. Grabbing some mouthwash, he gargled and spit before screaming an opera tune out to get his throat working. With one last cough, he opened the large doors slightly and peeked his head over, looking down to see Todd.
“Hi, Todd.” Eisis said, surprisingly in the familiar female voice she had, probably her new body imitating her old voice. “Please, come on in.”
Todd entered inside as Eisis closed the doors, he quickly turned towards Eisis.
“Eisis, what happened to you?) Todd asked.
“It’s a long story, basically I was trying to find a perfect gift for you and had been cursed to be like this. I still haven’t gotten full control of my powers and I understand if you don’t want to be with me anymore.” Eisis looked down at himself sadly.
“No, even as a mythical creature, I won’t just abandoned you like that. Even with a different look, I still love you , no matter what.” Told said.
“Are you sure? This place isn’t exactly “normal” for anyone to come by and visit. How are we gonna explain this?”
“We’ll find our ways, and we can keep this a secret between us two. Just, please allow me to help you get accustomed to your new body.” Todd said before opening his arms out for a hug.
Eisis felt tears building up in his eyes, he then lowered himself and gently hugged Todd back. He thanked him before resuming the silent embrace. Unbeknownst to them, a lone figure was watching everything that had happened to them from who knows where. It was the merchant from before, seemingly watching them and the events that played out.
“Tch. Just when the drama was about to get more interesting, of course love and friendship seems to come by at the most inconvenient moment. I was hoping to at least witness some more chaos before it happened, this Todd person seems to be even more fascinated by her new form than I anticipated.” The merchant said.
The merchant shook its head before looking back at the scene, the view closing in to show a close up look on Eisis’ and Todd’s face. An idea popped onto the merchant’s head.
“You know what? Even a God of Chaos needs some company once in a while. And I think I know where to start next.” The merchant chuckled to himself before disappearing somewhere to rest and start his next chaos for another day.
Let’s just hope they don’t fall for the same tricks twice, though with a deity that always likes to cause mischief, that’s easier said then done.
