This is a gifted vignette I made a while back for two of my friends,
Phoxe and
Lurker16! Been wanting to get back into writing and chose to begin writing short stories for close friends to shake off rust, don't worry I have more spicy stuff in the oven. A particular fox is one of my best friends and I'm glad his boyfriend makes him happy so wanted to celebrate them with this. The fae mentioned is indeed my fursona, Luna, sue me (please don't I'm broke).

By the time the orange furred fox made their first step on the flagstone pathway that led towards his front porch the sun was already well below the horizon. It painted the sky in hues of indigo and navy with magenta and fiery orange streaks of the morning still clinging to the starry expanse above. Phoxe was meant to be home some hours ago, but a call off from his relief for the day and a guilt-trip laden ‘discussion’ with his manager caused him to fold and remain on the clock until the store closed for the day. His tail dragged on the dirt pathway behind him, the white tipped bush of fluff already getting streaks of brown and green that would be a pain to scrub out, but that is a problem for him to deal with tomorrow.
Each step seemed to give him just that little bit of extra energy to make it home where he can just melt into the covers of his warm and soft bed, the flagstones subtly shifting in the dirt under his weight, until he reached the wood staircase leading up into the porch. His hand found the wooden handrail before he leaned nearly all of his weight on it, dragging himself up each step before reaching the top. Phoxe crossed the porch in a few swift steps as he jammed one hand in his pants pocket to fish for his keys while the other hand wrapped around the metal handle to yank open the storm door. Desperate to get into his home as if his manager would appear over his shoulder at any moment to drag him back to work. He unceremoniously unlocked the door and opened it by shoving his body against it with the knob turned, nearly tripping on his way past the threshold but managing to plant himself firmly back on his feet.
Once inside Phoxe had begun to gradually discard things on him the further he went into the house with his keys being the first to be practically thrown in the small wooden bowl on the entryway table without looking, the sound of metal hitting wood filling the house as the bowl clattered across the table from the force. Next came his jacket which he zipped down and let fall off his shoulders and into a heap on the hardwood floor with a soft thud, only in his work shirt and his jeans remaining on for the time being. The fox turned the corner and bore witness to the most relieving sight the entire day, his boyfriend Lurker barely awake on the couch of the living room. The green wolf’s tall frame stretched across it with his head on the plush armrest and pawed feet dangling over the edge of the opposing armrest, dressed in nothing more than a plain white t-shirt and navy blue sweatpants.
His tail began to limply thump against the couch cushions at the sight of Phoxe stumbling into the living room cracking open to his yellow eyes to catch the sight of his fluffy fox lover, the other could tell they were filled with the lazy mischievousness typical for the wolf, “Mmmmm hello babyyyyy mwah mwah.” He mused playfully with a lazy half-smile making audible kissing motions from across the room, settling on the other’s strange eyes, blue irises with black sclera that showed they were more than a normal fox. Lurker felt a subsequent weight land on top of his chest, sobering him as his fox partner had practically thrown themself on top of him. A death grip on his t-shirt, the green wolf had lost track of time in his sleeping stupor, but a glance at the waning twilight outside told the story enough, his sweet partner was kept out of his arms and home by work. The offer of a faery friend to curse Phoxe’s manager became briefly very appealing before he heard his boyfriend speak, “Can we. . . not get up. . .” He barely spoke above a hoarse whisper to the larger man, melting any rage for the time being.
The green furred canine’s smirk turned into something softer as he rested both hands on the small of his lover’s back and shifted to make himself a more comfortable mattress for Phoxe. “Of course.” He agreed and pressed his snout on the top of the other’s head, planting a kiss between his ears, “Such a hardworking girlfriend.” He added in a more joking tone to alleviate the mood a little. Earning an annoyed grumble from the fox and a muffled, “Lurrrrrkeeerrrrrr. . .” coming from his chest.
“Yeeeesssssssss?” Lurker returned with a similar drawn out hum, “Does my precious girlfriend want something?” He cooed with a far more overly affectionate tone as he continued teasing his boyfriend.
“I’m tired. . .” Phoxe mumbled back into the other’s chest. Wordlessly the green wolf wrapped his arms around the fox’s waist and turned on his side facing towards the back of the couch, trapping his smaller lover between his body and the warm cushions of the backrest. “I’m not stopping you from resting.” He mused while wiggling his eyebrows dramatically.
“I. . . mmm. . . I just don’t want to work there. . .” Phoxe grumbled as he settled more and more into the warmth of his partner’s embrace, “I wanna just be here. . . with you. . . I miss you a lot,” He added weakly.
Lurker’s playful demeanor fell away once more as he simply pressed his snout against the other’s, “We’re here now. . . together, and we can make pancakes together tomorrow. And you can tell me about some ideas in the future for our D&D game, ooooh we could go out for coffee and take a walk through the park. . .” He began to rattle off all the various activities the two could do together.
Phoxe’s body relaxed more and more, too exhausted to even speak as he repeatedly nodded and even smiled a little at the prospect of spending any time with the other. Lurker was satisfied and relieved that he managed to make the other smile, if not with his teasing and humor than with warm promises. “Mmmm tired. . .” The fox murmured as sleep began to take him, tilting his head up as the other wordlessly dipped down to plant a quick and simple kiss on the mouth, tender and caring.
Lurker pulled the other tighter against his body, the two drifting off to a deep slumber, entangled in one another's embrace. . .
