Beneath the waves of Eidon's seas are many secrets still to be found, including entire civilizations who may or may not have contact with the surface world. The Whelken are one of these sea folk who are knkown to exist since they are sometimes seen during salvage operations in the shallows near the Dakarran coast. Not much is known about them since they avoid any contact, but they are powerful aquamancers who use enchanted giant pearls to amplify their magic. When approached they will first retreat into their shell before fleeing though if something is too persistent in following them they will use their magic. So for this reason nobody has been able to make contact, aside from the Toltecca who claim to have traded with the Whelken a few times before but even they cannot tell much about them. One of the few things known about the Whelken is that they prey upon the glassfins which keeps their numbers under control.
