#2 for me. Been a strictly speedo and Euro-cut briefs wearer since my teens, can't imagine it any other way. Also any time American girls say that style looks "weird' on guys, that's a challenge and they love being proven wrong.

The figure sketches you're probably referring to are pretty much canon yeah. I don't draw my oc's nude so for decency's sake in figure drawings I give em a sort of 'briefcloth' (something between a loincloth and brief) that I imagine would be normal undergarment/swimwear in their setting. Same with Shar's alternate leotard outfit being canon, which will make an appearance at some point.
