A filling sensational soup from the kitchens of
sgredalert
Another one of those "IHaveNoIdeaWhatI'mDoing" recipes. More along the lines of "IHaveNothingInMyFridge" recipes.
Well.
A little of column A, a little of column B.
Ingredients:
5 Potatoes
1/2 Onion
Garlic Powder OR 2 cloves of garlic (I haven't tested the cloves part of the recipe, so I don't know about it. I've never used cloves of garlic. )
Parsley (dry or fresh)
Thyme (dry or fresh)
Salt
Pepper
Lemon (extract works as well)
2 Cups Chicken Broth
2 Cups Milk
Butter
Directions:
1. Do not make this while really hungry, because it is murder to wait for it.
2. Peel potatoes, chop them, and chop the onion.
3. Put 2-3 tablespoons of butter into a large sauce pan to melt.
4. Put 1/2 of your onion and a little bit of garlic powder (say 1/4 of a teaspoon) or your garlic cloves into the sauce pan and simmer until the onions are softened.
5. Put in chicken broth, potatoes, 1 tsp of thyme, 1 tsp of pepper, and 1 tsp of garlic powder (if you didn't use cloves) into the sauce pan and stir. Set on medium heat 20 minutes.
6. Get two bowls, a ladle, and a blender (or a potato masher) and set in a line on the counter.
7. Turn heat off, bring pan over and dish all of it into one of the bowls. Use the ladle to pick up 3/4ths of the chunks of potato (or all of it, if you want) and onion into another bowl. Blend or mash until sufficiently mushy and pour all back into the pot.
8. Add milk to the pot and stir, while lovingly stare at my awesome Sylvester soup bowl and ponder about your childhood while the soup cooks fully. If you don't like Nickelback, we get it, get over it.
9. Ladle soup into bowl(s) and enjoy. Yum!
I put too much garlic into the soup, which is kind of a tragedy, so be wary of that. And too much onion, but I fixed the recipe so that wouldn't happen to you.
Note to self: do not underestimate the power of lemon, and do not underestimate the power of garlic.
